We had an incredible Valentine’s Day dinner at Rare Chop House! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. I ordered the filet with a baked potato, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and exactly what I hoped for. The dessert was equally fantastic, a perfect sweet ending to a great meal.
Our server, Sydney, provided outstanding service, making sure everything was just right. It was also a nice touch that the owner and head chef, Jeffrey, came out to personally greet us. That level of hospitality made the evening even more special.
Rare Chop House truly delivers on quality, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a great steak any night!

Great place and a great staff. Had steaks and they were perfect. The jalapeno grits were also fantastic. Definitely a good place to eat.
Went here with my folks while we were in town for the July 4th weekend, and it was just as good as every other time we've been. Drinks (chai white Russian and black Manhattan) were awesome, fritters and salmon appetizers were great, dinner was great, and dessert was amazing. The quality of food and service outshines a lot of restaurants in larger cities. Keep doing what you're doing, Rare. You are a true gem in Mt Vernon.

Our bartender made delicious drinks, vanilla chai White Russian and black Manhattan. The Marsala Chicken and shrimp with andouille sausage were scrumptious!! We wouldn't have thought of leaving one bite on the plate! Very pleasant atmosphere also!

I come to Mt. Vernon two or three times a year with work. I make a special point to come to Rare each time I come. Atmosphere is great, staff is better among the rest, and their filet steak is easily put up against Ruth Chris’s filet. I highly recommend if you have some extra time to go and check them out. I doubt you’ll be disappointed unless you’re looking for frozen fish sticks.
