The view of the river is great, the atmosphere is quaint, but their food is mediocre. I had the crab cakes as they were recommended by the waitress and they were the worse crabcakes I have ever ordered. I couldn't even force them down. The only thing great about my dining experience was the side salad. It was fresh and tasty. For some place i had been wanting to try for quite some time was very disappointing. The service was great and she even tried to get the manager to take off the crabcakes and the manager wouldn't budge. My boyfriend had the hushpuppies and they were served raw and the fried chicken. He enjoyed the fried chicken and said he would go back for the fried chicken.....

There were 10 people in our group. Everyone's food was fantastic! The appetizers, salads, steak, fish, chicken - every single item was wonderful.
Our waiter was outstanding

We recently visited the restaurant after a boat ride up from Hardin. We loved it. Great outdoor patio, awesome dining room indoor with a great view. And the food was excellent. Good times. Highly recommend

Great restaurant. Can keep it simple outside or get something nice inside! Great business, keep up the hard work!
I had the fried clams at lunch, very good and a great experience. If you got the time, go.

Evandy's is just big enough to give you that big city restaurant feel in the middle of nowhere Illinois ironically on the Illinois River.

**Restaurant Review:**
On our recent road trip from Missouri back to Illinois, our party of 10 decided to stop at Evandy’s Boatel for a meal. Our experience was a mixed bag, with some high points but, unfortunately, many disappointments. Our waiter was fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, and managed our large group with ease. He made sure drinks were always filled and checked in on us regularly to ensure we were comfortable.
However, the food left much to be desired. One member of our group didn’t care for the sauce on his meal, so we requested a replacement. When the new dish arrived, it was fine but unremarkable, much like the rest of our meals. It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t anything special.
The real issue came with the customer service beyond our waiter. When we received the bill, we were shocked to see that we had been charged for the dish that was sent back. This felt unreasonable, considering that the replacement was requested due to dissatisfaction with the original meal. So both meals were charged. Our waiter talked with the manager and came back with “There’s nothing we can do.” Furthermore, the restaurant also refused to split our check in half for the two families in our group, which was a significant inconvenience.
Overall, while our waiter did his best to provide a good experience, the subpar food and poor customer service soured our visit. We were hoping for a pleasant dining experience on our journey home, but unfortunately, this restaurant did not deliver.

My wife had been there 3 weeks ago with family and loved it. Sunday, she convinced me to drive an hour and a half to try it. She loves the garlic parmesan wings. I had buffalo fritters, fries and cole slaw. The fish was cooked well but flavorless. The slaw had a weird taste, maybe on the verge of being sour. The hush puppies were burnt and inedible. I think we'll stay local.

It is an easy 55 min. drive from Springfield to get to Evandy’s Boatel. It is worth the drive as Evandy’s has a relaxed atmosphere and sits on the Illinois River. We have been there twice and the food and service has been excellent both times. The prices are fair and the has been staff very friendly.

I met high school friends for lunch. They were busy, but our waitress did great. We ordered and did not wait long at all for our lunch to come out. I had grilled catfish and a small salad. Very good lunch. All in our party of 8 were quite happy with there selections. Google maps is a little strange in directions coming from Springfield, but I was fairly familiar and knew the route pretty well so did not go out of my way.

It’s a cool place and absolutely beautiful, but man that older brunette behind the bar is so rude. Ruined the whole experience.
