best sushi in the chicagoland area for me! this little stall inside Hmart Niles’ food court is such a hidden gem. my husband and i actually come here once a week now, it’s officially become our comfort-food spot. i’m not a raw-sushi person at all, but they have amazing cooked options. i'm obsessed with the salmon yaki roll. seriously, it’s that good, always fresh and consistent.

we chatted with the owner once, and he told us he even makes the wasabi from scratch. the wasabi alone deserves an award, so flavorful, not the harsh store-bought kind. the owner is almost always there, making the sushi himself and running things with such a friendly vibe. he truly deserves recognition. this is literally the only sushi my stomach can tolerate, so that says a lot.

and it’s not just the sushi. their entrées are unforgettable too. my husband swears by the chicken katsu: crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the portion/price is super fair.

definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!

For what it is, this is a great value. You get a sushi combo set and get a maki set free. I chose the 6 piece nigiri combo and 2 spicy tuna handrolls. You can't compare this to an omakase experience in Japan but the sushi was fresh the owner is very nice. I will definitely go back!

When you are buying sushi from a supermarket, as opposed to from a sushi chef in a back alley of Tokyo, you can't ask for perfection. That said, the sushi here is quite good and fresh although that quality and taste does not come cheap.

There is a food court in HMart supermarket complex with a few tables per restaurant/stall. It is usually enough table space but at peak times it can get pretty cramped.

Service is a bit on the gruff side for the price required, in my opinion.

Pro Tip
If you come as a couple or group, why not split a pack (or two) of sushi among yourselves and try some of the offerings from other stalls, as well?

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in the Chicago area. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, the price is affordable and the portions are large. The owners are also very sweet. Definitely a hidden gem, I always make it a point to stop by whenever I’m in the area.

The owners of this place are some of the sweetest people. We eat here often as a sort of pre-game to shopping at H mart. The food is delicious, well made, and reasonably priced.

Side note: I once left my purse near the restaurant at one of the table and the owner kept it safe for me behind their counter. I got an old Korean man disappointing look from him but it was well deserved 😅😅

It’s 50% off after 7pm ish. Great deal! So they get 5 stars for a nice dinner or late lunch at half off. Taste was good. Staff was very friendly and nice. Indoor open seating inside Hmart. The food was fresh. And that’s important for sushi. Once you finish you can shop at Hmart.

This sushi spot inside H Mart is truly a hidden gem! They offer half-off sushi around 7:00 pm, making it a great deal. The service was exceptional as well. Jimmy Kim, who was incredibly kind, came out to talk to customers and made everyone feel welcome with his great sense of humor. On top of that, they gave us a few rolls on the house, which was such a nice surprise! Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area or shopping inside H mart.

I love this sushi vendor in Super Hmart! It’s run by a lovely couple who are always tremendously friendly and the sushi is great. Awesome deals and plenty of seating I would recommend

This place is great! I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten here, and the lady who works here is SO NICE! My partner is gluten free and she is helpful with this and offers gluten free soy sauce which is nice and rare to find. Also.. BOGO later in the day is wonderful and for the other low star reviews about their BOGO sushi not seeming super fresh… like that’s the point? It’s BOGO so they don’t have to just throw it all away at the end of the night, so if you need it fresh just made then obviously don’t get the BOGO items lol.
In short great food and if you know how to enjoy things you should be able to enjoy this ?
