Butterhills Cafe Northbrook

This was our first visit to this restaurant and it was wonderful. The food was good, service fantastic, and price was reasonable. We would absolutely come back again. There are some vegetarian options. The portions are huge.

Great spot for breakfast and lunch. I’ve lived in the area for many years, and Butterhill’s has always had a great reputation. I bring my niece to eat here all the time… she loves the rainbow pancakes off of the kids menu. All of their food is seriously so good. Come to eat here — you will not be disapppointed!

Went in yesterday and they had so many options, it was hard to pick but I went with the crepes. They were delicious! Staff was very friendly and the place felt very homey. Would recommend and can’t wait to come back to try other things.

How do you have A pancake house with terrible pancakes. Undercooked no flavor and a server who rushed me in taking my order and never checked back to see if my food was OK and took forever to get my check because all the servers were eating while they had tables. Owner comped my meal never asked me a question about it or showed any concern. Wow

Needs Improvement

My friend and I visited Butterhills Café in Northbrook for breakfast since we were nearby and wanted to try something new. We usually go to First Watch or Sweetgreen, but decided to give this place a chance. The atmosphere was just okay, but the food was the real disappointment bland, no color, and not very appetizing.

The café feels like it needs a real update in both the menu and the overall experience. It just didn’t meet expectations.

By far our favorite place to go for breakfast in Northbrook. Great service, coffee, prices, and one of the few places around here that offers Grits with your eggs!

Main meals were great. Pancakes and homemade biscuits were nothing to write home about. Got seating immediately at 9am on a Sunday. Got a lot of food for the money, although the basic coffee was a little pricey. Would go again and try many of the other items that sounded great.

We went in and got a seat and by the time 2 minutes had passed we had someone taking our order. The staff are on point and great. This was a completely custom order so get it, I got chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream, choped bananas, and a chocolate drizzle (the picture below). I was expecting to get 2 stacks mabey 3 but they gave me 4 STACKS. I could barely finish half of it. Someone needs to get these people an award for best pancakes because 4 stacks is crazy, and It was ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY. 5 stars, would highly recommend, and I will be coming back soon.
