Second cake we’ve ordered - the first was so good it was the only thing I remembered from the event and couldn’t wait for an opportunity to order again! Second was equally delicious and the service was unmatched. Would recommend and would love to try something else, but the chocolate buttercream is too good to get anything else!

Ive been in here several times now it’s a great stop on a long walk to the library or park with my kid. Every time we’ve been in it’s been super busy, more than 10 customers in an out of this small frankly cramped cafe(I add this to give possible context to baristas attitude later on) The first two times I went in my orders were wrong, the first time the barista caught it before even handing it to me and fixed it, the second time I apologized and let them know it was wrong, this time the barista was visibly annoyed and even though the drink I ordered was less expensive than the one they gave me she didn’t offer to fix her mistake(I didn’t realize until after looking at the receipt that they charged me for the wrong drink). None of this would have been a big deal if it weren’t for her attitude towards me but it really put me off to the cafe when both times going in I have issues with my order, and one of those times I was made to feel bad about it and overcharged. Well I’m writing this review and giving them 4stars because I’ve since been back 3more times with no issues and really tasty food and drinks, so they’ve won me over at least a little bit.

It's a cute little cafe. The staff is extremely friendly. But there are no prices listed. I know I'm a lowly carpenter working in a rich neighborhood but geeze. Order the oatmeal special and it had no texture. You could have drank it with a straw. Holiday Inn has better two-day old oatmeal.

Bought a Jenniper Salad today. Over $10 for 95% lettuce / greens (yes I get it’s a salad) but very poor value for money. Think I will stick to Whole Goods Salad Bar going forward.

08/01/25 Further to above I felt had to add and compliment the Manager for the way she handled my issue. Outstanding service and they could not have done more to rectify the situation. Thank you.

Honestly, the food is good but I usually get the Spa Salad and it’s nice. However, today I ordered a BLT and what a mistake. How can you justify charging any money for a BLT, which is essentially lots of lettuce bread and tomato, with the occasional bacon bite.

My review is not a negative on Three Tarts as whole, it’s just a fair warning ⚠️. DON’T GET THE BLT.

Stepping into Three Tarts Bakery & Cafe in Northbrook is, quite simply, a delight for the senses—a true testament to the art of refined baking. The moment you enter, you’re greeted by the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked pastries and the soft hum of a well-run kitchen. The display cases are a visual feast: rows of elegant tarts, perfectly golden croissants, and cakes that look almost too beautiful to eat (but trust me, you should).

The attention to detail here is impeccable. Each pastry is crafted with care, from the flaky, buttery layers of the morning danishes to the delicate balance of flavors in the lemon tart. The coffee is rich and robust, the perfect complement to a leisurely breakfast or an afternoon treat.

What truly sets Three Tarts apart is their commitment to quality and hospitality. The staff is knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about their offerings, always ready with a thoughtful suggestion or a warm smile. Whether you’re picking up a box of assorted cookies for a gathering or settling in for a cozy lunch, every visit feels special.

In short, Three Tarts Bakery & Cafe is a charming gem in Northbrook—a place where classic technique meets creative flair. It’s simply wonderful, and absolutely worth a visit.

A sweet little place with an excellent tomato basil soup and grilled cheese combo. The sweets look amazing but I’d come back for the lunch anytime.

Delicious food for brunch. A bit crowded on a rainy day, but we managed to find a nice place to sit.

Breakfast at Three Tarts Bakery in north suburban Northfield is a genuine treat, a must stop if you can navigate the morning traffic on the Edens Expressway. Located at 301 Happ Road, west of the intersection of I-94 or the Edens Expressway and Willow Road, it offers everything your taste buds ever dreamed of...quiche, bread, cake by the slice, cupcakes, cookies, cakes and pies. It's a full-service bakery with custom desserts and a cafe menu featuring breakfast and lunch options. Open from 7 to 4 Monday through Saturday, on my monthly visits, I make it a point to have breakfast and take home a goodly amount of oatmeal raisin and malted chocolate chip cookies and a banana cake filled and iced with vanilla buttercream, one of the house specialties that makes for a great birthday cake. Start breakfast with a muffin, scone, danish, cinnamon roll, croissant, granola or coffeecake. If it's Friday or Saturday, order a pecan sticky bun and/or a ham and cheese croissant. For a breakfast entree, I favor two scrambled eggs with sides of toast, roasted potatoes and house-made sausage or the strawberry rhubarb oatmeal special, steel-cut oats topped with strawberries, almonds and house-made rhubarb compote and served with steamed milk. If I'm a late arrival, lunch is a good option. How about a bowl of tomato basil soup or New England clam chowder or white chicken chili with a turkey cheddar sandwich with roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, thinly sliced apple, mixed greens and honey mustard on 5 grain bread or a hot ham and brie panini with ham off the bone, brie cheese, thinly sliced Honey crisp apple, mixed greens and grain mustard mayo on country French bread? With a slice of coconut cake or chocolate mousse cake? No doubt about it. Three Tarts Bakery is one of a kind.
