A bit offensive after paying $18.00 for a mediocre burger and $9.00 for a non alcoholic drink. Would not recommend.

Just said he'd take off the ticket, not sure where food went, as our mains were being placed on the table. Would I come back, maybe...but not dying to go back. Food and beer again was good enough, but service disappointed. It could have just been a bad night or something as that happens, but how server handled it annoyed me because I ordered a few apps for the table to try it and again, just a nonchalant oh well. Regarding the atmosphere, I couldn't figure out if it was a beer garden, a sports bar or Hampton Social. Just felt like a better version of Lazy Dog, food is better, beer and atmosphere better but the vibe was missing from what I expected with the name like Altered Brewing. Just thought it'd be cooler experience with good food and it was just good bar food

DISHONEST. OVER PRICED. LOW QUALITY. Took the liberty of adding 20% tip to my bill for two people, because we came in with others. PLUS a 3% credit card surcharge. We were standing at the bar NOT a big group at a table, and got BAR service didn't even get table/wait staff. They added that for everyone's check. You DON'T take liberties with other people's money. Never coming back, you should avoid too. Word must have gone out because it was almost empty for a Saturday night, 3 hours before closing. To add insult to injury, the flagship beer was awful (no outside beer on the menu), the cocktails were not good - specifically others complained about the moscow mule and the Manhattan. Food was ok, but overpriced. Service was poor had to ask for silverware with the meal. Do better.

Beyond my expectations. From walking in to walking out. The food was top tier and so fresh. Had the Wyatt meatballs and elote fritters. Fish and chips as well as the porterhouse sandwich. The bread (turano?) Exceptional. Service was great as well.

Came in with my family, waited waited… server never came… after ten minutes went to the hostess station, no one there for 5-8 minutes… almost thought beer to go was self check out.
Really poor experience for a restaurant, will not return.
Food menu is over priced BUT… their west coast IPA is great especially for 12$!

We stopped in for a couple of beers and some appetizers. Food was no good and the beers were expensive. When we arrived home we realized that my wife’s wallet was stolen inside the restaurant and her credit cards were abused. Alter management was no help, actually defensive. If you go, don’t order food and keep your eyes open. Really sketchy spot. Avoid it.

I had been to Alter's smaller Wisconsin avenue location for drinks in the past, but last night was my first visit to the Oakbrook restaurant. A party of two, we stopped in for a bite before a movie. We had the bang bang cauliflower appetizer, which was delicious. My husband had the porterhouse sandwich, which he really enjoyed. I had the chicken Caesar salad. Some restaurants serve their chicken Caesar salad with a big piece of grilled chicken sitting on top of the bed of greens, but Alter served it with the chicken cut up into bite size pieces and tossed with the dressing - perfect! Our server Maria was friendly and attentive. There was a QR code on the table to join their free rewards program, which gave us $20 off last night's bill. Great experience, we will be back.

Alter Brewing and kitchen was amazing. We made reservations for 5 and were seated quickly. Our server, Destiny, did an amazing job with service and recommendations. We ordered the cauliflower bites and the pretzel for an appetizer. The pretzel was HUGE and very soft, and came with 3 dipping sauces. The cauliflower bites were so good! Perfect amount of spice. My husband and brother in law ordered the salmon and OMG, it was the best salmon they had ever had, which says a lot. My mom ordered the blackened cod sandwich and loved every bite. It was done to perfection. My sister and I ordered the alter burger of the month and we were both very impressed. The beers were really good according to the guys! They bought a selection of beers to go. I can't speak on the beer because I'm a martini kinda girl. The French martini was perfection!!

We ordered the Big Mick Burger and the Alterado Steak Frites. The sauce in the burger reminds me of the Big Mac sauce. The patties are almost as thin as a smash burger. It was so full of flavor and delicious. Highly recommend. My husband ordered his burger with sweet potato fries and those were very flavorful and the outside was crunchy. We ordered our steak in our alterado steak frites dish medium well and it was very juicy and easy to cut through. The michelada sauce that it comes with was so tasty. The steak comes in a bed of thin cajun fries.
Dessert was mid. I ordered a Bundt cake and it was dry. My husband had a cheesecake and it was okay.
We will definitely return for the food but not the dessert.
