Every time I have gone to J Alexander's, the service, the food, and the atmosphere have been outstanding. However, a major reason why I kept coming back was for their signature steak rolls. They were my favorite appetizer of all time, and I am extremely disappointed to see that they have been taken off the menu indefinitely. I hope to see them return soon.

The Food Was Decent. I Didn’t Particularly Like The Mac & Cheese. It Was Watery, The Noodles Were Overcooked & Tasteless.

What a great place. Our server Liz was so friendly and provided excellent service. I ordered the pork chop and it was massive!!! Every bite was delicious as the first. Will definitely recommend.

First timer, walked into restaurant with a wonderful greeting. The shrimp ane calamari appetizers were amazing. Did not enjoy my Entrée especially the Mac and cheese. It was too soupy. Asked for another one and the same type of soupy consistency was delivered. Dessert was meant to have a good presentation but toppled over before arriving at the table but was still served to me.

Not too bad of an experience but assumed it'd be better

The food was great, the service though was EXCELLENT. Manoli was one of the greatest servers me and my mother ever had in our dining experience. We will be back and we will ask for Manoli again.

I was highly disappointed, the drinks tasted terrible. Please stop using cheap liquor or mixes to make drinks. The choices of sides for main entrees, are terrible . One of my favorite foods at celebrations is crab cakes with nice steak. The crab cakes were really greasy and tasted bad, like microwaved food. Get a real chef!! Don't celebrate your birthday here, go to Eddie V's. I will be back here again. Oh and my waiter seems lifeless and with no personality. Dave

The atmosphere is nice and the food is pretty okay especially the grill fire which makes the steak having a good smokey taste.

I’ve been a loyal guest of J. Alexander’s for many years. The service has always been top-notch, the staff incredibly welcoming, and the food consistently outstanding. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of upscale and inviting, making it a go-to spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.

That said, I was genuinely disappointed to learn that the steak rolls—one of their most iconic and memorable dishes—have been removed from the menu. This appetizer wasn’t just a personal favorite; it was a staple among my circle of friends and always the first thing we’d order. It was unique, flavorful, and a defining part of what made J. Alexander’s stand out from the rest.

Removing such a beloved dish feels like a step in the wrong direction, and I truly hope the decision is reconsidered. The steak rolls weren’t just food—they were part of the experience and I know many others feel the same.

The Oakbrook location has lowered their standards by much. We were seated inside and 4-5 big flies constantly weee on our table. We ordered the medallions and only to be told 10 min later that they are out of them and they can give us the fillet mignon but we had to pay extra. The Old fashion cocktail was way too sweet and didn’t have bitters. The grilled artichoke was so dry and completely disgusting. We ordered the fillet mignon medium but it was medium well. The.branzino and the ribs weren’t bad. My daughter had a birthday that day and the staff knew but no one bother to say Happy birthday. Disappointing. Wouldn’t go back.
