I always liked this place but when we went there for dinner on NYE I was blown away by the atmosphere and the food! We started with the queso dip which was amazing. My partner had the prime rib which is melt in your mouth delicious and I got the seared Ahi Tuma. I will totally go back and get the Tuna again, it was so good I don’t really have words to describe it. It is a bit pricey but the bill is totally justified due to the quality of their food and the atmosphere. So if you go there you have to get the queso dip appetizer and the Ahi tuna. You will not be disappointed

This has been my wife and my favorite place for most of our lives, even before we met. We go here for any special occasion or reason we can think of. We go for birthdays, date nights, and I proposed here. My favorite place.
1-2026 Edit: you guys have ruined our favorite restaurant. We have tried it twice in the last few months and have walked away supremely disappointed both times. Your filet is trash, the calamari portions are pathetic, and there is no cheese and bacon on my Alex's Salad. After 30 years of being our favorite place, you are dead to us.

I went to J. Alexander’s in Oak Brook on Monday for my birthday with my guy friend, my brother, and his wife, and I truly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has a nice, intimate atmosphere with low lighting that makes it feel warm and relaxed. The waitstaff was kind, attentive, and very professional.
There was a small mix-up when our waitress accidentally threw away my friend’s leftovers after misunderstanding his request to box them up. However, the way the restaurant handled it was impressive. The manager came to our table, explained what happened, and then went above and beyond by reordering the entire chicken entrée with all the sides to go for him. That level of customer service really stood out.
To top it off, they surprised me with a complimentary carrot cake for my birthday—served warm with plenty of cream cheese frosting. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, the food, atmosphere, and especially the customer service made this a great experience. Big props to J. Alexander’s—I’ll definitely be back.

Went there last night for my wifes bday, we sat in the bar area in a corner booth we were welcomed by Stacey and we knew it was going to be a great night, she was friendly, funny and engaging then the food came strip steak, ribs, porkchop and filet in a demi glaze everything was fantastic then onto desert carrot cake for my wifes bday. Its always good here but Stacey we will be back and we will ask for you thanks
