I want to share a recent, quite disappointing encounter I had with Tim Kersten, the GM at Lifetime Fitness. Picture this: it was a busy Monday evening, the gym was packed, and I was trying to navigate my workout. That’s when I ran into an issue with a treadmill – it just wouldn’t start.
Spotting Tim nearby, I approached him for help. “Excuse me, Tim, could you help me with this treadmill? It seems to be malfunctioning,” I asked, hoping for a quick fix. His response, however, left much to be desired.
Tim barely glanced at the treadmill and, without any attempt to investigate the issue, muttered, “Just try a different one, they’re all the same.” He didn’t even stop walking as he said it. No offer to help, no check-in with the equipment, nothing. Just a dismissive wave of the hand.
For a gym manager, especially at a place like Lifetime Fitness, I expected a bit more engagement or at least some basic customer service. This interaction was a letdown and certainly didn’t align with the community-focused atmosphere that Lifetime usually promotes.
So there you have it. A small incident, maybe, but it’s these little moments that define our experiences. And this time, under Tim’s management, it wasn’t up to the mark.

The exercise environment is great. I’ve had positive experiences with staff. Their knowledge and willingness to help as awesome. Plenty of equipment to help with my journey. Pleased with Life Time fitness.

I love this club however I am shocked at the number of members who are too lazy or privileged that they can’t clean up after themselves on the pool deck. They leave leftover food, dishes and cups all over the place not to mention leave towels on chairs when they leave. How hard is it to clean up after yourself?? Good for you if you have maids and servants at home but I pay the same membership fee as you do and somehow I have enough respect for myself and the people that work here to throw out my garbage, bring plates and cups to the bar, and toss dirty towels in the bin. Have a little respect people!!! Not to mention the group that seems to think they own the adult pool. Otherwise I enjoy the club.
