This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service are excellent. We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries at Roka Akor. If you love sushi, Korean and Japanese food we highly recommend it.

I had an amazing experience at Roka Akor! From start to finish, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was incredible—attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead of what we needed without ever being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. This place exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We there with my family (inc a toddler) the front desk staff were not very welcoming, I got the sense that they saw us having a stroller for our toddler as a hassle and we definitely got some glares...not a good start specially for a relatively high restaurant

Absolute wonderful experience. The dynamite roll was the best I've ever had. Celebrated a birthday and the staff made it an unforgettable experience. Can't wait to be back.

Excellent experience as always. The food and service was top-tier. I thought the champagne glasses were unique looking, so that was a fun little detail.

Always treated like royalty here, even from our first visit before we were established customers. Love coming here for date night and showing the place off to friends. Always treated extremely well by Lee or Juan, our consistent friendly and extremely attentive servers. And the manager stops by without fail and remembers us by name every time and gives a little extra care to the experience. Thanks, Roka Akor, for the wonderful food (seriously, cannot rave about it enough! Something for everyone, vegetarian, pescatarian, and meat eaters alike), decadent cocktails, outstanding service that is beyond compare, and the treasured memories made here!

In a while that I went there but this time the food was okay. Service was still very nice and the ambiance was good

The atmosphere here is more upscale but cozy. I loved the cocktails and the sushi is so fresh. I especially loved their espresso martini. The service was also quick! Our waiter was knowledgeable and funny. I’d definitely come back!

Went with four friends on a Saturday — two of us did the omakase while the others ordered from the menu. We were excited for the chef’s choice, but the experience was disorganized. Courses came out with little explanation, and our server rarely checked in. The pacing was inconsistent, and at one point we waited nearly 45 minutes between courses while watching him walk past our table multiple times to chat with others.

The manager was very visible throughout the night but never stopped by our clearly displeased table. We watched him have long conversations with what appeared to be regulars and share uncomfortably long hugs with a few women — even rubbing one woman’s back every time he passed her table. It was strange and unprofessional, especially while other guests were being ignored.

The food itself was good, but the service and atmosphere made it hard to enjoy. It felt like if you’re a regular, you get all the attention — but if you’re new, you don’t exist. Disappointing overall.

We went to Roka Akor in Oakbrook, Illinois to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and honestly, everything was incredible from start to finish. The restaurant is a Japanese steakhouse, and we decided to order a little bit of everything. Every single dish was outstanding.

For appetizers, we had the wagyu dumplings, perfectly seasoned and juicy. We also got the Japanese fried chicken, served with an exquisite sauce, and the pork belly, which came with a super flavorful sauce. We tried the tuna tartare with taro chips, which was one of my favorites, super fresh and delicious.

We ordered two rolls, the dynamite roll and the scallop roll, both made with the freshest ingredients and amazing texture. You can really taste the quality and attention to detail in everything they serve.

For dessert, we had the chef’s selection sampler, which you can order based on the number of people at your table. We got one for two people, and it was more than enough for the four of us. It came with a variety of desserts, including an incredible coconut and lime sorbet that was so refreshing. My sister also received a complimentary ice cream for her birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch.

The service was outstanding. Our server Lee went above and beyond, extremely friendly and attentive, and even sang happy birthday to my sister. We were also helped by Javier, Noé, and Cristian, who were all wonderful. They spoke Spanish too, which made us feel even more comfortable and welcomed.

Overall, it was a 10 out of 10 experience. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were all perfect. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply want to enjoy an amazing Japanese steakhouse experience, Roka Akor is absolutely worth visiting. Next time, I definitely want to try their Omakase menu, it looked incredible.

I'm extremely upset with the service. Moving forward, we will only be requesting Lee. It's sad to say but discrimination was present due to age. I felt neglected and unwanted there by our server. The busser was even nice and checked in on us more than our server. Wish the tip could have went to him. I've been coming to Roka for years with my family. It's sad that this transpired at this restaurant considering the numerous birthday I've hosted here. Rich knows not only me but my father quite well. I'm unsure if I want to come back after this experience which is sad when it truly is my favorite restaurant I've visited.

The food was so good!! Loved our waiter too! I didn't love the techno dance music so that's the only downside (unless you like that music) :)
