Roka Akor - Oak Brook

We have eaten at Roka numerous times and it has always been a fantastic experience! Server Jose goes out of his way to make every meal a true presentation!! Definitely will return !

Love your shishito peppers, Kimchi and Wagyu beef dumplings and lunch specials. Your miso cod and lamb chops are our favorites. Love your food!

The bartender was awesome and the only reason we ate! She was a rockstar. Making drinks for the whole place and checked in on us when we didn't get anyone to wait on us. Our waiter was swamped. That was the only downside. We sat at the bar. Noisy and lively environment definitely our go to date night spot but will have to consider alternatives based off service. Foods outstanding though

UPDATE: Rich the GM called me personally to address my concerns and invited us back to make it right. This goes a long way and we really appreciated it! Below average sushi - sent back all 3. However the Wagyu was delicious and we enjoyed the wine & sake. The ambiance is very loud with EDM music that does nothing for the atmosphere just makes people even louder. Service was inconsistent and spotty. Unfortunate!

This was the first time we've dined at Roka Akor. We took another couple who haven't eaten much Japanese food. I introduced the husband to a snow crab and scallop maki roll. It was delicious, and my friend enjoyed it. My ribeye was perfectly medium rare, juicy, and delicious. The Japanese whisky was excellent and the wine selection was good. I had a nice cabernet to pair with the ribeye. The server was very attentive, too. We would absolutely go back to Roka Akor. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The shishito peppers, COD and lamb chops were spectacular. Very consistent. Our always-go to fare. The specialty sushi rolls have slipped in quality - the portion of fish in the specialty maki was disappointing. The shashimi platter (7) was delightfully fresh (prawns, tuna belly, tuna, salmon, scallops, etc) but the portions were like slivers. Very pricey for such portions. The specialty cheese cake and ube desserts were gret. The service was splendid. The noise level of the background music was very high and had to request a reduction in volume to be able to talk.

We came here for a weeknight date night for my birthday and it was so relaxing. Our waiter timed our courses so thoughtfully and the restaurant gave us a lovely dessert. Our waiter was so sweet and funny. Thank him for making our experience special! With two young kids a date night is a big deal for us.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is delicious beyond measure. Definitely our favorite place. They always make us feel welcome and special. Already thinking about our next visit. Thoroughly recommend!

We love Roka Akor Oak Brook. They treat you so well and you feel special. We've spend a few anniversaries there but this year we didn't mention it. Yet everyone wished us a happy anniversary. That's special and just another reason we recommend Roka Akor to everyone. The food is top notch.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our server was incredibly helpful with food suggestions and pairings. The food was delicious...will definitely be back!

Seafood allergic reaction at this restaurant be warned!!! I had to run to the car and get my EpiPen and my prednisone. Ruined my whole day because I was going to go shopping at the mall right after being it was my only day to do so. We go to a lot of restaurants and I make a lot of openable reservations and this is a first time ever happening. It didn't make for a great lunch experience for me and I ended up feeling sick for two days after.  I made a reservation on OpenTable and it says that I'm allergic to fish in the reservation. I did tell the waitress about the fish allergy that I can't have any other fish besides crab, lobster, salmon, calamari and she seemed like she understood but when I order the California rolls I was starving and devoured two of them.  I took a closer look after and to find out they put fish eggs on the outside of the California rolls.  I've never had fish eggs ever on a California roll and they were spicy which I don't like and it does not state that on the menu. The waitress never told me, but the waitress was really nice and felt really bad about it. They did make another order of California rolls without the fish eggs and I paid the bill and had to go straight home. This was the second time I came here and the first time we had a wonderful experience and a waitress that really catered to fish allergies and was great unfortunately not the second time. I think this restaurant could do better by teaching their servers the importance of this fish allergies.

Outstanding food and service, cocktails were very good. It would have been a great evening but the pounding techno-music was relentless, making conversation difficult and it just increased the volume of people trying to talk over it. It was not a pleasant environment for dining. If the goal was to move people out quickly, it worked. We could not wait to leave so that we could hear ourselves think. Very disappointed that this amazing food can't be enjoyed with less noise.

The “music” playing was nothing more than boom boom boom. Food was average service although a lot of staff was very slow. Very disappointed after hearing that it was good. Will not go back.

My experience at Roka Akor was very pleasant. I took my boyfriend for his birthday dinner and he enjoyed it as well he rated his experience a 10/10. I started off with miso soup which was pretty good, not my favorite, but tasty. I think went with the Poached lobster rolls, absolutely delicious. It was my first time trying sushi and they did not disappoint. I also enjoyed the chicken teriyaki chicken that was cooked to perfection. I sadly forgot the name of my server but he was super kind and he recommended us a white wine that was perfect for our evening. I would definitely return !
