The Budlong Southern Chicken

I am in sheer awe of how amazing this order was! The quality of the chicken sandwich has practically revamped my rating scale for food moving forward. On my previous 1-10 scale, this legitimately would have been a 15. The fried boneless thigh was juicy and tender beyond compare, with a spice and flavor profile that blew me away. The Cole slaw was crispy, flavorful, and inventive; a perfect accompaniment. The pickles are astounding (I don’t know but I feel like they are made in-house). I swapped the sauce for the hot honey ranch and it was delectable and scrumptious.

By far the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had.

The fried corn bread was equally astounding, crispy little perfect pillows that explode with a homey feeling that echoes through the meal.

I would like to personally thank the staff of this excellent establishment, and I will ABSOLUTELY be in for a dine in as soon as I’m able. Each and every one of you has made my whole week. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I work nearby and this has been my 2nd time trying Budlong. The first time I got the original chicken sandwich and this time I decided on the nuggets. I did order online for pickup and I was super pleased with how fast my order was ready and the woman at the front counter was really nice. The nuggets though! I got the “warm” which were the PERFECT amount of spicy and I was happy to see how many nuggets you get for $7 as most places are a rip off. I’m slowly trying everything on the menu but so far very pleased!

According to Google, the location opens at 10:00 AM on Thursday. The website confirms this information. I was in the area and my coworkers asked if i could stop and get them a few items. They would've placed an order online but you aren't really able to customize your order online. Such as if you want the chicken biscuit without egg. I went today at about 10:25 AM. The man behind the register informed me that they were closed and that he didn't speak English. I went to get gas and came back after 11:10 AM and the same gentleman told me they were still closed. When I asked what time they would open, he said closed and no English. Mind you, the entire mall is open at this time. Also, according to the website, the latest they open is at 11:00 in which is on Sunday.

Budlong is in the foodcourt and shares the pos with the poke place next door. We got the hushpuppies and the chicken sandwich. The food was pretty good, chicken sandwich was a little sloppy but flavor was good and crispy.

Love the chicken sandwiches and especially fried corn bread and hush puppies. Buns are so soft and taste great with crispy chicken. Please open one in northwest suburb!
