Firehouse Subs Oak Lawn

The food is usually pretty good, it’s the only thing that is good at this location. The service at oak lawn is absolutely abysmal, awful service, slow, and downright AWFUL attitude. i understand food service isn’t a great job, i’ve worked food service numerous times; however, i have never encountered such miserable attitudes and demeanor. particularly from the man with the red hair and red beard, perhaps consider a job where you never work with the public again. mind you, this man didn’t even wait on me, but had numerous smart comments to make when i was talking to the cashier (i asked if they still had the thanksgiving sub, as it was a seasonal item) and both were annoyed i asked! i work in retail, i used to work food service and never once have i been so miserable and quick to cut customers off in their order. i would sooner go visit the willowbrook location, a 20 minute drive than ever visit here again.

The food is fine. I’d rather have potbelly or jersey mikes but neither of those are on my way home from school. So I settle for this spot. My main issue and the reason I’m giving it 2 stars, is the staff. I’ve worked at 3 sandwich joints. And I know the work is tiring and unrewarding, I know it sucks. But no one in there is EVER in a good mood. Especially the one lady. I couldn’t get a look at her name tag but she’s a heavier set lady, with black hair. She was working Thursday the 6th at 2:30. (The time a date is for management to know who I’m talking about). She was extremely rude, and unpleasant. And accused me of being a their because I had a drink that I ordered separately she said “did you get a drink” as she made my sandwich and when I responded with yes she said “weird I don’t see it on your ticket” I couldn’t have even stolen the cup if I tried, they’re behind the counter.

All of this being said, she’s rude, unpleasant, and the main reason I don’t want to return to this location any time soon.

Absolutely love the sub sandwiches this store provides! The meat is always well portioned and I love the odd sauce pairings they come up with! Classic BBQ was a huge hit for me with the mayonnaise! The only issue I've had at this location consistently is the Coca-Cola machine tasting like it's not running the appropriate amounts. Me and other customers comment on it in the lobby often. Hopefully someone in upper management can take a look at the machine or contact the company to look at it. I dislike having to purchase an expensive closed bottle just to get a good drink with my meal. Other than that I love how friendly and clean this location always is!!

The gentleman who took my order was so kind and helpful! In a world where small talk and friendly customer service is dying it’s nice to see that Oak Lawn/Firehouse subs cares.

I cannot believe how badly they messed up my simple order. I ordered two hook and ladder subs to pick up on my way home. The only change I made was switching the white bread to wheat bread; everything else was normal. I got home and took a couple bites and thought it was bland, so I opened it up. My picture shows what I received. NO tomato, NO mustard, ONE sliver of onion, and a sprinkle of lettuce. I can't believe they messed up one of their signature subs so badly. And it's not like they were busy; there was only one other customer in the store. What an utter disappointment.

If you order for takeout, make sure you check inside before you leave.

After trying 2-3 different subs. The service is fast but the sandwiches are just horrible. It taste is just lots of salt on their meats and the bread just doesn’t have a good flavor! I won’t be eating firehouse ever again.
