This is a small, local breakfast joint that has all the staples of a breakfast joint. Food and service was great with no complaints. The decor was a bit dated, But makes the place feel homey. Feels like family.

been here for breakfast and it was great but dinner was a different experience, i had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. the meatloaf did taste like meat it had a sweet grainy flavor and was dry. the potatoes were straight from a box flavorless and dry. the thick brown gravy couldnt save the dish as it had no seasoning, this place is pretty crowded in the mourning but almost empty the night i was there.

Meh. Nothing spectacular... I was in the area with my mom and sister the other day when we decided to stop for lunch. We chose to go with a family owned diner instead of a chain restaurant because we thought it'd be better to support a local establishment. We hadn't been to Oak Lawn restaurant in years before that day and now I know why. We walked in and the gentleman at the counter greeted us immediately. Our waitress also came to the table rather swiftly. I'd say the vibe of the two employees was matter-of-fact and robotic rather than warm or friendly... The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and we all opted for water. She brought the water and took our order. My sister and I both had grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup. Our mom ordered the waffles I believe with sausage. The waitress brought our food and that was it. She never checked on us after that or asked if we wanted anything more to drink. The soup was gross. I took one look at it once it was put in front of me and knew I wouldn't like it. It didn't appear to be fresh and seemed to us like it could have come out of a can. The crackers were also stale. The grilled cheese was fine (how can you mess up grilled cheese?!), but the fries could have been cooked a little bit longer. My mom liked her food, but wasn't blown away by it. We left wishing we'd gone to Red Lobster, Stacks or Smash Burger instead. The entire experience was just underwhelming. The service and food was mediocre at best. Our bill was about $37, but we still tipped the waitress $10 despite not being all that pleased with her service. She was older and I heard her say she'd been there for 30 years. I thought of my grandma and how I wouldn't want her waiting tables at that age. Besides with the pandemic and everything I'm sure things haven't been easy. With all the different options in the area I doubt I'll find a reason to ever return in the future.

I went with my friends Emmet and Basil. I wanted food and they had lots of food. I eated the chicken, cookies, ice cream , lettuce plate and had very cold water with ice . The waitress smiled and gave me a lolipop. The owner was a rather friendly chap who allowed me to pay in coins. They had gambling machines but I have conditions that I can't divulge . My shoe was untied and a man with a red beard tied it but forgot to loosen my belt . Overall jiffy lube next door doesn't have food anymore so I was beside myself that I luckily came here and was given food to eat, look at and share with Basil and Emmit. I go home and watch TV with smile and full tummee.
Delicious food at a reasonable price. Friendly waitress and good service. Enjoy our visits to their restaurant.

This morning I went for breakfast with my family. I was shocked and very disappointed that the owners and waitresses where handling the customers food without using gloves. The owner was seating people, handling cash and then handling the toast. There where times he even scratched his head and then grabbed the toast. I was disgusted. The waitress where doing the same handling food without gloves after they would take orders or go grab their tip money. They really disappointed us we where all disgusted with what we witnessed. The health department should make a visit to see how the kitchen looks and how the cooks prepare food.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! After finish up breakfast, drinking the last of my chocolate milk and something shot into my mouth throw the straw. Pulled the unknown out of my mouth, to discover a cockroach. This place needs to be closely inspected by the Health Department.
