Warning: Long but honest review

I was first introduced to bb.q Chicken a few years ago in a different city, and it quickly became one of my favorite fried chicken spots — both where I lived and when I traveled.

Unfortunately, this particular location has consistently been my worst experience, both service and food-wise — and that’s saying a lot considering how much I enjoy bb.q Chicken overall. To be clear, this doesn’t reflect the young women who’ve served me at the counter; they’ve always been pleasant. My issue is with the management and how this location operates.

My first few visits here, the chicken was under-fried — barely crispy and not quite cooked to the doneness I’ve had at other locations. I didn’t complain, just made a note to start calling after placing my order online to request “well done.” The challenge is that their online ordering system doesn’t allow special requests, though they encourage you to call in if you have any.

That worked once.

Fast forward to today — I placed an online order and tried calling several times to make my usual request. The line was busy for over 15 minutes, even when I tried from another phone. When I arrived, I mentioned this to the staff, and the young woman told me the manager had taken the phone off the hook because they were busy. I understood they had a large party, but I was still surprised.

My order was sitting behind the counter, not even bagged yet. I asked if they could drop the wings back in the fryer for just a few minutes to make them well done, especially since I wasn’t able to call in due to their phone being intentionally disconnected. She kindly checked with the manager, but they said no — that they “don’t take food back into the kitchen once it’s prepared,” even though the food hadn’t yet left the counter.

I asked if they could remake the order instead. Again, management said no.

I ended up taking the food as is, but I did ask if they could please share with the owner that if they plan to keep the phone off the hook while still accepting online orders, they should at least enable the notes/request option online.

This will likely be my last visit to this location — not out of spite, but on principle. Accessibility matters. What if a customer had a food allergy and couldn’t communicate that? I personally live with food allergies, so being able to relay even a small request isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity.

To me, it’s simply greedy and inconsiderate to take customers’ money without providing a basic level of accessibility and care. I can’t support a business that operates that way.

Every time I order from the BB.Q Chicken everything is excellent. I have tried almost all of the sauces and everyone is unique and delicious. The chicken is crispy and cooked to perfection and the cheeseling fries are amazing.

First time going and we will be returning. Servers are friendly. Food was very good. We had the Kimchi Ramen with egg, unfortunately they do not allow you to add protein to the bowl. We ordered a side dish of Boneless crispy chicken and cut it up and stirred into the ramen. It was amazing!

The chicken was delicious. I strongly recommend the boneless GangJeong Chicken. Exellent value in their lunch specials. It is an integral part of our lunch rotation. Plus the service can't be beat. Jade is amazing.
