The new owners need to be present to observe how far this restaurant has fallen in overall quality. We came down for Valentine’s Day and experienced what can only be called a very uncomfortable dinner. While we waited to order our food, we kept hearing the servers advising the patrons that the kitchen staff was yelling at the servers and that there would be delays with their food. We could tell that our server was going through some anxiety due to the kitchen staff’s unprofessionalism. She did a great job under these conditions. After waiting an hour, our food finally arrived. My wife’s chicken was fine but my chicken alfredo looked sloppy and tasted like hospital food. It will be a long time before we are back again.

This was a disappointing experience. They were short-handed and the skeleton crew were doing their best. My wife ordered the tomato ravolini soup and it looked and tasted like Chef Boyardee. I ordered the fried chicken and it didn't live up to the past reputation. Hope better days are ahead for this historic establishment.

The food is flat out amazing, fried foods are crisp in all the right ways, not overcooked.

The service is prompt and friendly!

There are no downsides here, just great and friendly.

Highly suggest to stop in, give it a try, and leave them a great tip.

We'll definitely be stopping by here again.

Shout out to Madison, the waitress; and Jim the cook! Bump these two's pay! They're worth it!

We were traveling and fell into this restaurant in the small town. The food was phenomenal and so was the service our waitress Brittany was the sweetest thing ever. We live in Kansas City and we are planning a trip back there to stay at the hotel and do the spring baths and massages.

I was part of Alyssa's party during the "nothing we can do about the soap" incident. I'm really only writing this as a counter to Kendra's review below. For one thing, there were at no point while we were there "nearly 100 people" in the restaurant, that is simply ridiculous. The place does seat probably 100 people, but it was about a quarter full when we arrived and maybe a third full by the time we left. There were several other things she mentioned that don't seem right to me (for instance from what I could see there was a dedicated bartender), but that's not really important.
The reason I'm writing this review is to remind the reader that Kendra didn't mention the fact that there was no soap available and when they asked a patron was told "there's nothing we can do about it." This is obviously the reason for the 1 star reviews. Neither Alyssa nor myself would have bothered even leaving a review if we just received slow service and mediocre food, and I doubt the other fellow would have either. The problem is a blatant health code violation. I will also reiterate that this problem persisted for our entire time there. There was still no soap by the time we left, well over an hour later.

I could not have been more disappointed. I ended up leaving 3/4 of my steak behind because I couldn't even get a box to take it home. Staff was overwhelmed. Kitchen could not manage the orders coming. People were being turned away at the door... Wish I had.

I was there at the same time as Alyssa and Eric below. I almost guarantee I know who these two people were based on how rude I witnessed them being to the server they mention in their posts. Firstly, it was busy in the restaurant when they were in there. VERY BUSY. And it kept getting busier. What they also failed to mention was that there were two servers for a restaurant that can seat 100 people and was almost full and had been for hours. Some people just don’t seem to see the other people around them in a restaurant. Another important factor is that the servers in this restaurant are responsible for: seating, drink making, salad making, serving, and bussing. Most of which, is visible to customers if they care to notice. That’s the bad thing reviews, isn’t it? People only share what they notice. Usually, what they notice is their own needs and nothing else. I guess that’s the bad part about humanity as a whole. In conclusion, KUDOS TO THE TWO SERVERS WHO FED EVERYONE THAT CAME IN. And, Eric and Alyssa, I would love to train you as severs sometime and see how well you can hold up on a busy night.

If you like fried chicken, this is the place to try it! Located in the lower level of The Original Springs Hotel, this restaurant is an asset to Okawville. Even when they were overwhelmed on the total eclipse day/evening in April, they still took care to craft a delicious drink for me. I’ll eat there any time I stay at the hotel.

Parking: You can park on the side of the hotel and walk to the sidewalk if the street is full.

I was here at the same time as the other 1 star review. We actually overheard their restroom complaint hahaThere was no soap in the men’s room the entire time we were there, overheard somebody mention it, and the response was that they couldn’t do anything about it?? Also no paper towels in the women’s room the entire time as well (and no air dryers). I sure hope there was a separate employee restroom that they were able to wash their hands at least because we sure couldn’t.When we were seated, the waitress seemed really panicked for our party of four people. When we were seated there were maybe two other parties and it took forever to get our food. It filled up a little bit more while we were eating but still not even 1/4 of the tables were full. The waitress took our orders, brought us our food, and that was it. I could have used more water less than halfway through my meal but was not even checked on once. The food was mediocre at best. The “marinated chicken breast” was so dry that it was not worth finishing because of how much effort it took to chew. The cheese on the cheesy potato skins was what I assume to be Velveeta cheese sauce? We asked for our check while we were still eating (by getting the waitress’ attention from across the room since it was clear she wasn’t ever going to check on us again). Over 20 minutes after we asked for the check (yes we watched the time) we still saw no signs of our waitress having any plans on coming back with a check, so one of us went to the bar and got rang out there. As we left, the waitress did yell to us on our way out the door that she was sorry for the wait, so there was that I guess? To be transparent, this was somewhere we decided to stop after the eclipse, but we were one of the first to arrive from that “crowd” and like I said it was never more than 1/4 full even when we left.

If I could give a ZERO, I would. Went in. Hardly anyone in the restaurant. Party of 5. Waitress had to ask a waiter what to do. Said could seat us but could not get to us immediately and would be over an hour to get food. Then the Worst part. I went into the bathroom. No soap or towels after I used the facilities. I mentioned this to the waitress. She sort of shrugged. I said it was a health code violation. If people serving and cooking were not washing hands, I would not want to eat there anyway.Very sarcastically, she yelled well you have a good day.It is no wonder the establishment has a for sale sign out front.I recommend you find somewhere else to go eat.

We have visited the spa and hotel on several occasions. My cousins and I always do a girl's birthday venture every year. This time one of the cousins surprised us with this marvelous treat. The spa treatment was well overdue and needed, kudos. This is the first time we decided to try the Boiler Room. The fried chicken was finger licking good. The price was very affordable for a complete meal for $10.00. I pray whoever decides to buy this property that the legacy continues for many more years to come.
