My husband and I attended the Winter Solstice December 14th coming in from Springfield. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The building is so beautiful. The event was very well run. We loved all of the heavy hors d'oeuvures and desserts (my husband kept going back for the cream puffs) and walking around exploring the building. We are a middle-aged couple and especially appreciated the fact that the music on the dancefloor was not blaringly obnoxiously loud. People had such a good time and were dressed in such fancy attire. We are so glad to have found this wonderful spot and will definitely be coming back up here for future events.

Wife picked up sandwiches for lunch today. Apparently they had no chef and were only able to make sandwiches. No prices on the sandwiches, so ordered 3 Italian subs. Came away with this: a very dry bun, a few pieces of meat, and a couple slices of cheese. Oh, and they added a container of salsa (for an Italian sub?) because that’s all they had on hand. To top it off, 3 of the blandest subs rang up for $40. Came away thoroughly confused, dissatisfied, and robbed of $40…
If you don’t have the staff and ingredients, maybe step away and close up until you can get right.

Maybe it was an off night. But service was not good. Took almost 15 minutes to just get someone to take a drink order. Ordered an old fashioned, menu states made with Makers. However the bartender grabbed Evan Williams. *not sure of why the change. As it was never communicated for the substitute) We ordered apps and food. (It was a limited menu). We ordered wings, chicken quesadilla, and ribeye sandwich. The wings came out and right after came food. So timings were off all night. Wings were undercooked. Lots of pink in the middle. Chicken quesadilla was extremely dry. Chicken was over cooked. Ribeye sandwich was mediocre at best. As visitors from out of state we were hoping for a better outcome.

We were celebrating our anniversary and were looking forward to a nice dinner out. We were not aware that they had lost their chef and were only serving starters. We had driven 25 miles and were hungry. The restaurant is beautiful but noisy. Our server was apologetic but the experience was disappointing nonetheless. The reservation site asked if we were celebrating an event. We said yes. It was not recognized. We probably won't go back.

We went to my nephew's wedding. It was so perfect !
Wow! We were guided here by staff at our stop in New Salem. If you are seeking a dining experience with great food & service in a beautifully restored historical buildings put The Broadgauge at the top of your list. We had the Smash Burger, BBQ Pork sandwich, and the Douglas St Dip along with their cole slaw & homemade chips. All were prepared to perfection! We were able to enjoy walking through the building to learn about the restoration and then sit in the lounge area in the front of the building.

I attended a wedding at this beautiful venue and was in awe! We got a personal tour, the best catered meal and great drinks and coffee. I’m from a small town and truly didn’t expect much of this small town, but Broadgauge exceeded all of my expectations! My group of girlfriends are ready to go back just to visit this location! I give it a 100/10 ✨

Very lovely place. We had heard nothing but good so we had high expectations. Unfortunately we were unaware of a recent change in chefs or management or something that we could only order from their small plate menu so we were disappointed. The small plate menu was adequate but nothing special. Service and ambiance was excellent.
We were surprised by the small plates menu when we first arrived. However, the surprise quickly turned to delight when our food arrived. We have been accustomed to the entrees on the menu from our previous visits. The new (temporary) menu provided several good options, including the vegetable egg rolls, and the ribeye ponyshoe. The beer cheese soup was (chef's kiss) really delightful as well. Our drinks met the standard that was set from the very first time we encountered the restaurant 2 years ago. We brought first time guests with us, and they remarked that they would love to come back! We hope the new chef arrives soon and continues to deliver amazing food at Broadgauge. We'll see you guys again during the holiday season!

We waited a long time to sit, get drinks and food. Despite a reservation. Luckily we were there to visit and listen to Jazz so they waiting worked out ok.
The service is great and they are so friendly; including the bartenders!! Food was their shortened menu but was very good. Can't wait till their new chef gets there and what exciting menu will be!!
