Great local bar! Super Nice Bartenders

Gianna

The bartender was so sweet & the atmosphere was very welcoming, laidback and fun! The mixed drinks I got were great and my boyfriend got some of the local beers and really enjoyed them! Really happy this is the place we ended up stopping at after our walk around the downtown.

Just had a need for a cold beer ? and stopped in here. The atmosphere is true to an old Mississippi River town bar. The bartender we had was amazing. I believe her name was Vennesa. She gave us some of the background of the bar and city. She filled us in on some of the breweries in the area. Great place to take a break from the road.

I like a good dive bar. Old domestic beer, cheap liquor, pool, darts, minimal entertainment but for the people around you. A good hole in the wall is a pleasure unto itself. I'm not sure I have that sort of place in my repertoire for a good hang, but I'd happily do an after work session at Peacocks Tavern pending similar minded work compatriots agreeing to it.The building facade looks old. The screen door and main door reflect this assessment. The bar itself does nothing to reject this assessment. The walls, bar and tables are covered in various wood laminate, not current or popular since likely at least the 70s or 80s. The floor is a simple 1 foot square tile of pattern seen in any cafeteria or office building of late 20th century vintage. There's the normal assortment of canned and bottled beers and various liquors available, but best of all - the bar is ALL CASH. Haven't seen an all cash bar in forever, and this made me happy. All of the visual aesthetic pleases me, but what is even better is the sound of the place. There's no music, no loud TV blaring - just people coming to meet in the space and talking. It's a community pub if there ever was one. I only wish I'd come with people from work.I opted for a simple Tanqueray and tonic, which was delivered quickly. It was as solid a mixed drink as any, no complaints there. The free popcorn from the machine in the corner further aided my enjoyment of my selected drink. I love free, half- stale, under salted bar popcorn. Really tied the whole experience together for me.I'm really looking forward to stopping back here in the future, possibly with other work compatriots if possible. I'm not always in the mood for this sort of space, but the overall experience of stopping in to a space like this and being able to make your own fun, whether it's darts, pool, or just hanging out, is a certain fun I'm and of itself. I'll see you again soon, Peacocks!
