I have now played the course twice. The history and sovereignty of the course will bring me back again and again.
The course itself is not in very good shape. In particular the greens are spotty with sand. It is scenic alongside the river. The current price I think offsets the conditions. I worry though that if they don't step it up and manicure better it will not survive which will be a total shame.
I really want to love this course—truly. The nostalgia behind it, the memories it holds, and the history surrounding it make me root for its success. But after its recent rejuvenation, I was hoping for a much better experience.
Unfortunately, the current condition of the course is disappointing. None of the tee boxes are in good shape—most are uneven and patchy at best. The fairways haven’t filled in, leaving large areas bare and inconsistent. While the greens are in okay shape compared to the rest, they’re not enough to offset the overall condition of the course.
There’s so much potential here, and I sincerely hope continued work brings it back to the standard many of us remember. Until then, it’s hard to justify the cost or recommend it to others who haven’t shared the same emotional connection to it.
Went to QC Pops concert. Very packed but everyone was comfortable. Getting on the island and off was a bit of a jam. It took some patience.
The golf course is permanently closed
Unfortunate that the golf course had to close but beautiful, well kept place to visit at the Arsenal! Red, White and Boom! Happy birthday, America. Big shout out and absolute appreciation for all of the troops out there! Thank you for you give.
Good meeting place
Nice course and the clubhouse guy is great, but it's not walking friendly. Told us it's fine to walk and they like a 4 hour pace for cart riders but we weren't bound by that. Old guys behind us, who were playing in a six-some (and playing some weird best ball variant) hectored us and told me to start hitting from the women's tees. When I wouldn't, he tattled on us to the clubhouse and they sent out a guy who told me "walk faster and don't take time to line up your shots." Finished 18 holes (8.8 miles walking) in 5 hours but not fast enough for the crotchety old members here.
Excellent customer service by staff and management.
They hold a great Thanksgiving meal <3
Perfect place to hold an event. Professional and laid back at the same time. Very impressive

Excellent layout. The place is closing. So sad that this piece of history is ending. This being said, the place is in disrepair.
Clubhouse is ok, but pretty cold even in September...
Attended a conference here. The building is quite nice and the staff helpful.
Love going there the staff is amazing and price is reasonable.
Played today and the course condition was terrible, all the fairways were burnt out and looked like they hadn't been watered in weeks. The greens were in severe need of water. Most of the tee boxes were lost to the heat and were just dirt. The course is in need of a lot attention or it will be lost for play. This used to be a really nice place to play but in this condition it's not worth playing.
