I had a coupon that was expiring the next day but the Whitey's closer to my house was shut down because of the severe weather coming in. Not this one, though! Everyone was still working and cleaning up, helping people get their ice cream fix. Everyone still had a smile on their face. And, still made thoughtful suggestions when I didn't know what to get. Amazing customer service and delicious ice cream. No wonder there was a long line of cars for the drive-thru and loads of people queuing inside! I got the Smurf/Blue Moon and Banana Nut on a sugar cone. It was absolutely sublime! Perfectly creamy, with powerful but NOT over-bearing natural flavors. Loved it!

For anyone who knows me, knows I'm a Malt Connoisseur. I've that malts from across the country, including an original style Coney Island Malt.
All that being said, I ordered a large Cake Batter Malt, and Whitney's did not disappoint! They made my top 3 list of the best staff, service, and malt quality, which isn't an easy feat having tasted the Original Coney Malt!! As of now, the top 3 are 1: O.G. Coney Island. 2: Tones Cones of Ottawa. 3: Whitney's Icecream of Rock Island. Well done!!

Amazing! Some things never change they only get better! Finally, one thing that seems to be a hot hit here and has even branched out from the 16th Street location to many, many other locations now, and all are super still!
I still like chocolate chip ice cream. I wanted Carmel pecan, but they only have butter pecan... oh well, it was all good!

The last few times I’ve visited the Rock Island location I’ve been a little bummed by the service & quality of my order. Two cars in the drive through and a couple and another person in the store when I got inside. There were 5 or 6 people behind the counter, backs turned - working on other orders. Which I get, but there was no greeting, no one said “we’ll be with you shortly” and after 5 minutes I was prompted to order. I paid $6.55 for a 2 scoop cone & this is what I got. The monster cookie flavor is my weakness & this is not my first rodeo as I’ve ordered a 2 scoop cone a few times before and this is considerably smaller. If I wanted a 1 scoop cone I would have ordered that.

Ice cream always good. I just wish that they would teach the counter help to listen better. They didn't get my order correct, which I caught when I looked at my receipt. They used to teach them to memorize the order and repeat it back to you before they make it. Now they just write down what they think they heard and don't read it back to you.
