Not even 2 full strips of bacon on a BLT. Server never came back to fill our coffee or ask how everything was. Menu said with chips but apparently you have to state if you want chips or not. First and last time there. Not impressed or will recommend.

I was looking for a place to eat a little something something around Rushville since I'm not really from the state nor the area. I walked in South Side Cafe where I didnt feel welcome by some of the customers, but that's their problem. When it comes to the Cafe itself the FOOD and the STAFFS were very pleasant. Guys don't be afraid to walk in anywhere you feel, as long the staff or the owner treat you with respect. South Side is THE place to eat, specially the Friday Special ( Cat Fish) I'm just saying.Thank you guys for making feel welcome at your restaurant.

Next time, leave the bone out of the chicken that comes from skinning it. Put mayo on your BLT's. Visited last Thursday in June still. Love the pictures and all.

First time here and I loved it. The place has a cozy feeling like you stepped back 100 years in time. Had the breakfast Horseshoe and I would say that you need to be max hungry going at that one, it's big. Service was good, food was hot, ready fast and coffee was good. Didn't realize they were here all this time and will definitely be back!

Entering the establishment I swear I got the feeling of stepping back in time! I can totally imagine a black and white picture of the diners drinking coffee, enjoying their meals 50yrs ago! What an odd sensation!Forward to now, the restaurant is straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting! The food was equally remarkable! I ordered a club sandwich and fries. When it arrived I actually noticed the work and preparation that went into the sandwichI didn't order anything special, but seems special is what I got! They served the fries perfectly cooked and in copius amounts!Definitely recommend!

A delightful surprise discovered as we dodged road contruction, and truck traffic on the interstate highway. Housed in former hardware store from the 19th century, the setting was unique. And the view of the square was inviting. But it was the food, and the price, that really made this a pleasant surprise.

I actually haven’t eaten here yet but I called for help with a lunch order and the wait staff on the phone was beyond kind and so helpful. If this is there service over the phone, I am sure in person will be even better.

In Rushville on business and drove around looking for a place to eat lunch. We spotted this cafe while driving around Rushville's town square. The exterior was inviting and we took a chance. Glad we did. I was surprisingly roomy and pleasant. We ordered Friday's lunch special, fried catfish. It was served with mac and cheese, baked beans and choice of potato salad or cole slaw. Unlike what most restaurants invariably serve on Friday, a piece of previously frozen slab of mystery fish with mac, the catfish was really good and was a generous portion. If I find myself in Rushville again, I will definitely eat there again.

The Southside Cafe in Rushville Illinois!A Cute Small Town Café With Classic Diner Fare of the RegionMain focus of this review is the Breaded Pork Tenderloin (BPT) although the Horseshoe is amazing as well. Very good cheese sauce (rarebit). The Breading was well seasoned, pepper came through and hints of garlic but not too salty with just enough amount of sweetness. Just a hint. Worked very well with the “brightness” that the toppings brought with it (lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard). The size was very nice since you get to enjoy the toppings quite quickly with each bite.No map sized redundancy here: this was not an exercise in novelty but instead an excercise in a well executed dish. Thickness was medium and not overcooked; the pork itself was actually seasoned and not plain. A quality tenderloin. The bun nicely complimented the entire sandwich.Fries were tasty and crisp.Would definitely recommend.
