The food is not good and it seems people only go there for the scenery the service is fine but I would not go back there ever again

We’ve eaten at wheelhouse many times. It is an excellent rest place for a long cycling ride!we have been for all three meals. The brunch was great. We got French toast. We also love the burger and cheese curds! They have changing seasonal plates which is great. We really appreciate the farm to table focus and the cozy dining room with bicycle themed art!

This place is so cute!!! The interior is very well decorated in a bike theme that was unexpected (I was thinking ship wheel lol) with full bicycles hung on the wall and fun posters and art. The lighting and atmosphere is laid back and kind of quiet, which I loved. My partner and I wanted to try some place new and St Jo is not too far from where we live so we decided to try a restaurant there. I looked at their online menu and wasn't sure (I was kind of feeling like bar food lol, and this place is definitely not that) but let me tell you, it was the best place I've been out to eat in a long time. The service was exceptional. When we walked in we were greeted and sat right away, our server (who was an angel, just extremely sweet!) made me a super delicious mocktail as I don't drink alcohol. The food took a little time, but you could tell it was freshly cooked and was fantastic. They have this amazing homemade tomatillo ketchup... To die for. I ended up buying a little container of it to take home. Over all, with drinks and an appetizer it was still under $50 for two, and the portions are very generous. There are some pricier menu options (we had sandwiches) but honestly we plan on going back to try some of them, the duck sounded amazing. 10/10 would absolutely reccomend. Would give give a higher rating if it let me ?. And next time I'm taking pictures.... The food looked and tasted so good I completely forgot ?Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options that we saw.

I came here with a friend for dinner. There was only one other table seated, and they'd obviously already eaten, which made the wait time for our app very frustrating. We ordered hummus, which simply requires spooning into a serving vessel, but for some reason it took 20 minutes to get it even though our waitress said it would be "right out". That phrase is not congruent with a 20+ minute wait. The bartender is who waited on us, and while pleasant enough, was not attentive enough for a 5 star review. She really was sparse and wouldn't even look our way so we could motion to her that she was needed. She was not busy. There were 2 people at the bar. Her demeanor was wonderful, though. The hummus is described as lemon garlicky, but there was no such flavor to be found. Instead, it was heavy with cumin and tasted like refried beans. The bacon jam that accompanied it didn't taste like its listed ingredients - more like pace picante sauce. The portion was laughable. I make and sell hummus myself. I know what a can of chickpeas costs and how little effort it takes to make. If you're going to charge $12 for a quarter cup of hummus, which is roughly 20 cents worth of chickpeas and no more than $1 worth of tahini and other ingredients, it should taste like its description and be a pleasure to eat. This hummus was a rip off, plain and simple. It's not hard to make something lemon garlicky. Cumin drowns everything else out and was perplexing why it was in there. The cook was wearing a tattered old Ko Fusion tshirt, and above the door to the kitchen there was a sign that said "WARNING, THE CHEF IS ALWAYS RIGHT". That's soooo cringe. Not many egos worse than a chef's! It definitely created an environment where it didn't feel safe to express a complaint or disappointment. In the face of that hummus, the chef is MISTAKEN. Period. My entrée was the shrimp and blue corn grits and you will not catch me on here complaining about those! That dish was magnificent. Such a flavorful delight in generous portion. My friend got the salmon and the portion was HUGE and she also enjoyed her entrée. The prices were higher than Google states. $30 entrées here. Not the $10-20 that Google says.I gave 4 stars because I would knowingly endure horrible service and exorbitant wait times to get the shrimp and grits again. It's that good.

Stopped in here for lunch while traveling through. What a cute vibe and cool place to check out! So glad we did! Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and how it was located right next to a bike trail. It wasn't really far from the interstate so it was easy to get to. The service was adequate - not bad but not great. The food - very very good! Nice touches on classics and that made a fun menu to look at! The brunch option made it a great visit.

Great restaurant! Drinks were great. Bartenders/servers were friendly and attentive. Cheese curds were magnificent! We ordered the roasted chicken with Diane sauce. Presentation was great. Taste was excellent! My only knock…MORE FOOD! Was only one chicken breast! Not many veggies or mashed potatoes! I left super hungry! For the price, should’ve been a little more food IMO. Will definitely go back…just not maybe when I’m super super hungry!…took home the cheesecake which was good as well! Like I said, no knock on food at all. Just portion size!

I moved to this town because of this restaurant! There is something for everyone here from burgers to fancy plates and from Hamm's beer to raspberry mimosas. The service is great, atmosphere is unique and inviting, and the menu constantly evolving and pulling you back in. I LOVE THE WHEELHOUSE!

Just ate the wheelhouse burger. It was amazing. The wagyu beef was delicious and the homemade pimento cheese sauce to die for. The atmosphere incredibly charming and the service great. Definitely coming back!

What an incredible discovery! We were driving from Iowa to Ohio, which is mostly a culinary wasteland. My copilot found this gem. It sounded too good to be true, but it's true! Though it looks unremarkable from the outside, inside, you'll find a wonderful restaurant where the staff is highly invested in making sure you have a great meal. My companion enjoyed a lovely Old Fashioned to start. I ordered the Turkey stroganoff, while he had the shrimp and grits. When the plates came out, I thought the veil was finally about to slip. They were well-plated, but huge. And yet...the veil didn't slip. It was haute-cuisine comfort food goodness in what looked like a converted warehouse space. Unreal! Though turkey is often too dry, my stroganoff was moist and succulent. The sauce was much more than just cream of mushroom -- lots of flavor and not too much salt. We had a time of it. I'd happily come back here again and again.

We were looking for something different between Champaign and Danville. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed! Excellent steaks, burgers and soups. Blend that with a cute atmosphere and good service and we'll be

Sorry to say this was disappointing. Traveled a way because I heard this place was good. We were literally the first and only customers for an early dinner. Like the name infers it is bicycle themed with various types of bikes hanging on the walls. We were waited on immediately, but somehow it took nearly 45 minutes to get our dinner. The server was pleasant and checked on us several times, I just don't understand the unnecessary delay. When we got our food the entrees were warm and dry. $45 for a steak, we expected better. This was a real disappointment after the hype.

Was in the area and stopped in here for some chicken wings . They were the biggest wings that I've ever seen else where. A lot of meat on them . We ordered the sweet and spicy which were good but could of been alittle more sweet and spicy. More like a Asian sauces Mabe . The decor was unique . They had all kinds of bicycles hanging from the ceiling and a bicycle theme going on . So I guess that's where it got it's name

We were driving down I74 and needed lunch. Found this place and were not disappointed. We all had burgers with fries. They tasted great. We got some of the dustings on the fries (parmesan and the salt and vinegar) both were good. If you like parmesan, you get plenty of it. The salt and vinegar was a little more subtle. Had the chocolate cake and pumpkin pie creme brulle. Both quite tasty as well. Will go back when passing through St Joseph.
