This was my first experience at The Royal Tea Room and it did not disappoint. I have wanted to go for quite some time and thankfully got my change this past week. I took a friend for her birthday and we were both very pleased. The service, food, atmosphere and presentation were all five star. We enjoyed our experience so much that we scheduled a lunch engagement during the Christmas holidays. I’m sure the decor for the holidays will be beautiful. We are both looking forward to our next luncheon soon. Thank you Royal Tea Room!

As an entertainment vendor, the Royal Tea Room easily holds a special place in my heart! The ambiance always provides a tranquility to your day, the day to day decor is beautiful and I love when the holiday touches make an appearance. I’ve enjoyed visiting my family, friends, and colleagues over a cup of tea many times since their opening. The owner is wonderful at creating fabulous events to bring the community together for an afternoon with the Queen. Delicious food and wonderful tea selection too, the Tea Room has great service to everyone it opens its doors to and I always look forward to being back!

Not just for afternoon tea! We went in and noticed they had a great looking lunch menu and cocktails/ other drinks as well.
I spent time at 10 am Saturday with my mom having the 4 course tea time. They had a great selection of tea and the little food pyramid tray had great eats all the way to the top. We thought the 4 servings was plenty of food, but if you're especially hungry go for the 5. My favorite things about this place were how comfortable the tables were to sit at and how the space encourages having a conversation with those at your table. We will definitely be back to try for lunch. Don't let the 'tea time only' mindset keep you from trying this place out! (P.s. don't forget to take a pic with the queen and her corgi!)
It was very sad, we made a reservation and we're turned away and they locked the door on us when we arrived. Very bad business behavior!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!! THEY COULD HAVE HANDLED IT BETTER!!! WHAT A SHAME!!

Second visit update:
I recently visited this tea shop for afternoon tea, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
The shop itself is beautiful and very clean, and I appreciated that I could make a reservation via their website. However, I didn’t receive a confirmation, so I had to call the next day. The timing of their hours was confusing: the door says they close at 5 PM, but I was told they close at 4 PM. Additionally, I was told that no reservations could be made after 1:30 PM because it would be too long, even though there were plenty of open spots.
Our welcome from the owner at 1:40 PM was simply, “You’re late.” No hello or welcome, just that. There was only one table getting ready to leave, so what was the issue? The posted hours said they close at 5, but verbally we were told 4. No other customers came the entire time. It was obvious they didn’t want guests. Why have a menu for lunch if you don’t want customers?
The tea service was quite expensive, over $200 for three people, with a four-course offering. The first course was a strawberry cold soup, which was tasty but felt more like a smoothie with whipped cream. The sandwiches on the tray were small but delicious, including carrot and cheese, cucumber with cream cheese, coronation chicken, and egg salad. The banana scone was nice, but the condiments were ridiculously tiny—about the size of a dime for jam and no real clotted cream, just honey butter. We also received only four sugar cubes for three people, which felt quite stingy.
The service was not what I expected for a relaxing tea experience. The owner was quite rushed and made us feel like we had to leave within 90 minutes, even though the place was empty and there was no clear reason for the rush. This happened during a previous visit as well, so it seems to be a pattern. The timing and the overall atmosphere just felt off.
Given the price and the discomfort, I don’t think we’ll be returning. It’s a shame because the place has potential, but the experience just wasn’t worth it.
First visit:
I recently visited the Royal Tea Room in Illinois and had a lovely overall experience.
The only downside, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, was that we felt rushed during our visit. Despite the tea room being empty and still open for several hours, our waitress repeatedly came by asking if we had paid the bill, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful setting. It made us feel like we needed to leave, even though there was no apparent reason to hurry.

Brought my family to celebrate a birthday and everything was fantastic! From the service to the decor, from the vast selection of teas to the outstanding homemade food, we had the greatest time! I can’t wait to come back again for one of the special events on the calendar! Love!!!

I was very much looking forward to visiting this place. While it is a beautiful establishment, the experience was just ok. Our waitress must have been new. We felt forgotten. She was nice but inattentive. The tea was exquisite. The food delicious. The overall experience left more to be desired. Very expensive but I can see why. The details are there. However for the price, I believe service should have been much better. Also, for the Mother’s Day event, There was no communication /organization about the flower activity for Mother’s Day. We didn’t get water at our table until maybe an a hour after arrival . We were not offered sugar cubes. We saw them on another table that had them while we were on the way out . The tea was actually so delicious without sweetener so no real complaints about the tea . $200 for two people. A great experience overall. I hope the next visit will be more pleasurable. My mom agreed there was something lack of communication but overall, she enjoyed herself.

I love this place! Today was my third time going. I am not a regular tea drinker myself but I have a very good friend that is. I have enjoyed all the teas I have tried. The non alcoholic sangria is sooo good! The first time we went we did the 5 course meal and it was a lovely time! The next two times (including today) we just ordered off the regular menu and we haven’t had anything we didn’t like yet! Last time we had an onion soup… it was sooo good!! Today we had a blueberry lemon scone…. YUM!!! The breakfast and lunch options are super delish so even if you aren’t a big tea drinker like myself - just come in and try the food!

We went for afternoon tea today during my girls spring break and had an amazing time. The owner was so sweet and the chef gave us simple yet delicious food. We all left satisfied and excited to visit again. I would definitely recommend The Royal Tea Room for a mother daughter outing or with all the ladies. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I’m still thinking about the lovely sandwiches and banana bread dessert.
