First time here with our 8 month old granddaughter. Had a great time the food was awesome and the prices very reasonable. My wife was very happy they had honeycrisps. We will be back next year.

Great place... so sorry to hear you will not be open this year... our fall will be a bit "sadder". Take care!

Visiting this place every year for the last four years. Like country atmosphere without overpriced farm activities. Delicious variety of apples, amazing freshly baked pastries.

This is a nice family owned and operated place. Very friendly.

Drove out 45 miles on a Friday. Chose to visit Plank Road out of all the other area apple orchards. Their website and voice recording stated that they were open. Arrived shortly after noon (posted Friday hours were 10 am to 5 pm) to only find out they were closed. Just terrible. What kind of business does that? Called two phone numbers while I was there, and no one answered either one. Waste of gas, mileage, and my family's time. When people ask for an apple picking recommendation, I'll be sure to give my suggestions and add to not go to Plank Road.

Fond family memories of Plankroad Orchard! Use to go often when my parents lived in Sycamore. Our children looked forward to apple-picking season each year just as much as we did! Planning a road trip in the area this fall and will be stopping in

Wanted to take my daughter apple picking. Just her. We were informed that all people in the party will be charged for 5lb minimum. That means if three people show up we were forced to pay for the $9 bag and $17 bag. Hmmm. We asked repeatedly if my one daughter could just pick the $9 bag. Nope . It's a shame because it is still small and family run and I would like to give them my business. But no-one should be forced to pay if you have no desire to pick.

We have been going there for years with our kids and now grandkids, but the place is getting less and less friendly. Every year-prices higher and more rules. We had a couple who were along for the fun, but not picking. They were requiring everyone had to pay for a bag to go in the orchard. Went yesterday and bought the large $32 bag, but they declined to tell us that they only had one variety worth picking. They should have mentioned that. We surely would have bought the smaller bag at $17. There were a couple more kinds but the apples were rotting on the tree. Soft and unpickable. The apple cider donuts are wonderful though and we always liked the no-frills approach. FYI-Port-a potty only. But we are looking into other places. Too bad.

Awesome orchard. It's a family run business that provides upick. baked goods, and pre picked apples. Phenomenal customer service.

To expensive for apples full of holes and half the trees you cant pick from. We found nothing. Staff was not friendly or helpful in any way.

Really good fresh baked goods family-owned the granny that's talked about earlier is from Romania is a very nice woman but just happens to be sick and elderly worked hard her whole life to buy the orchard. Probably like some of the bad reviewers Grandparents. We've always had a great experience out here the donuts are reasonably priced and the years of the Apple crop is not up to speed due to lack of rain they let you know and warn you. If there's nobody there it's probably because they're being let out to where there's apples be picked in the field.what kind of work was the reviewers granny doing ?Perfectimg an attiude of seperation amongst other beings?

I love this local orchard. The apples are excellent and the pastries are delicious. It is family owned and run. They were extra nice to us this weekend and allowed us to take pictures in orchard even though the orchard area was closed.

It was absolutely horrible. We came as a group of 9 kids and 3 adults. They wanted each of us to pay for a bag. Mind you, 6 of the kids were 4 and under. There's no way they can carry a 5lb bag of apples nor do we need that many apples. The website says they close at 6. They have a sign that says they close at 5. We got there at 4 and they said they were closed but would let us still go. The old lady was so rude. I didn't know if it was because we were a group of African Americans or she's just rude to everyone. Because it would have been too hectic and expensive to have all the little kids each have their own bag, I waited by the toy area with them and my sister took the 3 older kids in. My mom wanted to tell my niece something and started walking into the orchard and the lady yelled at her because she didn't buy a bag. My mom was telling her that she's just going to check on my niece and she had nothing in her hands so obviously she wasn't going to steal an apple and they sent a gold cart after her. My mom told that lady that she just needed to grab my niece and that we spent money for bags and made purchases in the store. She was a paying customer and wasn't going to steal apples. So that lady was nice and said ok you can go in. I just couldn't believe how horribly we were treated. We will never go back there. Ever.
