Shahi Nihari and Chopsticks

Over the years this place has went significantly downhill. Went here for a birthday dinner last week and I was so disappointed.

We ordered a variety of dishes, and they all came out cold. The naan were literally crispy?? How are you supposed to dip them in the infamous nihari. Moving on to the nihari, how is nihari gonna be in your restaurants name, but it was not even good. Mind you I’ve been here before and the quality has significantly dropped. If you’re looking for quality nihari, Ali’s Nihari on Devon is top tier.

Moving on to the service. Service is very slow. They do not give you any silver ware? And only one napkin and a plate. If someone is ordering nihari, you would expect the server to bring some bowls and some spoons to eat it. The fact that we had to ask for spoons and bowls was insane. Like they couldn’t see the big pot of nihari themselves.

We ordered chapli kabobs, and they were extremely dry. We had to ado the waiter for sauces?? That were originally supposed to come with it. The waiter also gave us a total of 3 cucumbers and 1 lime slice for 6 people? Like what is going on with the service at this restaurant. They also did a 20% service charge for a family of 5 or above? That’s ridiculous. Most places to 3-10% fee. That just screams greedy.

They need a serious revamp. It’s not like how it was before. They’re just after the money now, from what it seems.

Outstanding experience at Shahi Nihari & Chopsticks!

We recently hosted our team outing for around 50 people, and everything—from parking accessibility to private dining arrangements—was extremely well managed and stress-free.

The food was absolutely amazing. Our menu included nihari, chicken tikka boti, veg Hakka noodles, garlic chicken in sauce, chicken biryani, along with tea and accompaniments, and every single dish was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The variety worked beautifully for a mixed crowd, and the quality was consistent across all items.

The staff was courteous, attentive, and very accommodating for a group of our size, which made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The private dining setup was ideal for team bonding and conversations.

Overall, everything was perfect—great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for team dinners, group events, or family gatherings. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Great atmosphere, the food was adequate. I felt that I didn’t order the right dishes for me. The peach mojito stole the show for me. Overall, it was a good experience.

DEC 03 2026 ,I attend valima venue, The meat was uncooked in biryani and chicken 65 in not tasty sweet kheer is like oatmeal, .I requested to owner have food before serving.

Unfortunately the take out order for the Biryani I purchased had an unpleasant smell, truly disappointed. I have eaten here multiple times over the years. Not happy .!!

Loved the new ambience — the updated décor and furniture make the place feel so much more vibrant. We tried the buffet, and the food was excellent with plenty of variety. Whenever we visit Chicago, this restaurant is a must for us, and the recent changes make it even better.

One small area for improvement is the grilled fish — it isn’t always as fresh as the rest of the dishes. But the overall experience still feels wonderful, especially because the uncle at the reception is incredibly nice and polite, and the uncle at the omelet station is always so friendly. Their warmth really makes the place feel like home 🏡

Left my credit card with the front door staff to be charged for a party of 7 I was hosting and this is the second time they charged my guest.

We went to this restaurant with family for dinner. Lemme tell you please do no go there ever. The food is terrible service is really bad, after ordering we waited 40 minutes to get our food it was cold, small portions and very expensive. They charge $5 for a naan and for 6 people they charged us 20% of the entire bill plus $5 for credit card processing. Who does that? I suggest dont mess up your wallets and your stomach go somewhere else and try to avoid this reataurant. These guys r nothing but crooks. All customers were complaining.Total rip off.

Excellent authentic Desi food with the perfect spices! Love their hot and sour soup and Hakka noodles among many others! Also great spot to cater from for family and holiday parties! Great leadership and service as an added bonus!

Great place. Very welcoming. The shifts of how the crowd go in and out make it so you almost always will have a seat with minimum wait time.

I do recommend you get appetizers as the meals they prepare are well made and take sometime to make so be patient. And yes there are some meals they can make faster. But you'd be missing out.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I gave a huge catering order, but they overcharged my card. Upon questioning, they said the person who charged it is not working. The manager cannot figure out the overcharge even after seeing the receipt. Food was ok, for the price not enough quantity. Upon asking for to-go containers, they said we do not provide them. Worst customer service. Never coming back. Will take our business elsewhere
