The most important quality for me at a five star restaurant is service. Our service was outstanding! We sat at the bar on a late Sunday afternoon and the bartender was extremely attentive. We never had to ask for anything. She was refilling our soft drinks and water before they were completely empty. We also did not ever have to wait to place an order for more wine. She was not hovering or intrusive at all. She was simply extremely attentive but from a distance. We ordered salads and appetizers and they were delicious. This was our first time at Eddie Merlot’s, but we will definitely return.

My husband and I have been going to this location for a couple years and it never disappoints. The regular menu is great and they also have seasonal menu from time to time. My favorites are the chopped salad and filet Del Mar. extensive wine menu.

Reservation was for Valentines Day. Arrived 30 minutes early because we wanted to sit at the bar for a few minutes ahead of sitting at our table. We were advised to go ahead and take our table because they were over booked for reservations. We sat at the table for 15 minutes before we received water. It took another 15 minutes to receive our drink order. We waited another 20 minutes before the server took our order for an appetizer. We ordered a salad and then the main. We asked to make sure there was a little space between the salad and main course. More than 15 minutes after the appetizer was cleared, the salad arrived. The main took another 25 minutes after the salad was cleared. Before we finished the salad, we ordered another round of drinks. These didn't arrive until halfway through the main. Reluctantly, we ordered coffee and desert, as we were concerned with how long that entire process was going to take. It took a long time. The tables around us had different servers. Their servers were attentive, and things moved along at an acceptable pace. Although the restaurant was busy, the tables around us didn't go through the same experience we had. We were located in a part of the restaurant that was off of the bar area at a table that was next to a window. It was noticeably cooler than the rest of the restaurant. The server closed the window covering in hopes of dampening a breeze coming from the window. It didn't work and it was uncomfortably cold throughout dinner. We really like Eddie Merlot's but this was an extremely disappointing experience.

We hadn't been here in several years and thought we'd do something different. Service was SO slow - 1 hr, 45 min for dinner (20 mins before waiter came to table), food is overpriced for quality and quantity. Ambiance feeling a bit dated - like a sleepy dining room on a cruise ship. Much better food, service and price alignment for experience at the places in downtown Naperville.
