Food was excellent! We had the OG plate (chicken katsu & short ribs) and Braddah Paul's plate (mochiko chicken, pork belly, and poke). The food was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavored. We also tried and thoroughly enjoyed the daily: special Filipino BBQ chicken skewers. We took a trip from Racine, WI just to try this food and it was well worth the hour drive! We'll be back!!!
Da Local Boy is a fantastic gem in Highwood. The food is amazing—they have REAL Portuguese sausage with the eggs and rice—and the spam musubi are delicious. We were there for brunch and can’t wait to go back to try more plates.
The atmosphere is laid back and the decor is beautiful. The service was excellent—Dianne is extremely friendly and welcoming.

I saw Da Local Boy would be at JASC’s Holiday Delight. Got the mixed plate. Pulled pork was so tender and full of flavor. Loved the short ribs and mac salad. It also came w rice. My daughter and I shared, and I ate the rest for dinner. Lots of food and so good! Can’t wait to go the restaurant!

Very friendly staff, felt very welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Food was so good you can tell they put a lot of thought and care into the preparation. I got the da og plate the pork and chicken was so juicy and the seasonings were so good! I highly recommend this place!

This place has the best chicken dish I’ve ever had. Crunchy, seasoned and fried to perfection. Spam musubi was awesome, and the beef skewer was tender and juicy. Sauces were on point, portions were generous and the staff is super friendly. Please check this place out if you haven’t, the food is outstanding.
I’ve never had hawaiian food, but I think it just took the #1 spot for my favorite type of cuisine. Absolutely delicious grilled chicken, incredibly juicy, and a marinade that is off the chain. Rice is simple and cooked to perfection. I’m not a fan of macaroni salad, but the local boy has perfected that as well. Highly encourage anyone to eat here if you haven’t yet. I’ll certainly be back! Oh! And the staff is very sweet, and greets you warmly with an “Aloha!” (:

Clean, colorful place with comfortable tables and not noisy. The food is absolutely on incredible. The spices on the beef ribs, which were tender, excellent and savory. The garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly. Pork belly had a spice, again so savoury and delicious. And the Ube pancakes were fun, fluffy and delicious. Coffee was good too. Such a good place!!

Finally a Hawaiian restaurant in the suburbs! I know Da Local Boy from their food truck who came to my workplace. We love the Grilled pork belly, chicken Huli Huli, Mochiko chicken, Short ribs, poke nachos ( pretry much everything here are good!) and their drink, Lava Flow. We went there during non busy hours so we got seats right away. The restaurant is not too big but really feel cozy and cute wall painting. Will be back to try their other dish for sure!
A friend from Maui brought me here and it did not disappoint. The meats were unreal. The service was lovely. They nailed it - Maui in the burbs.
Not only do we recommended but will go again. The food and the service was ONO good!
