I can’t even count how many times I try to snap a pic before we dive in, but these two dishes were worth the wait! 🤤 The Aguachile Negra and Ceviche are absolute standouts—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made.

If you’re ever near Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, IL, do yourself a favor and stop by this spot. You won’t regret it! 🌶️🦐✨

Visited La Jaiba on Mother’s Day for lunch, and although our waitress was amazing the food WASN’T. The molcajete meat was dry, the camarones zaradeados had a odd aftertaste, and our kids meals weren’t good either. Wanted to love this place, however we will not be back.

Totally underrated spot! The agua de chile negra is fire, the palomas are on point, and the service? Don’t even get me started, so good!

The seafood was very tasty and came in large portions. The three of us each got a small entree, but we could have probably split one large entree. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes.

Camarones al gusto with diablo sauce is a real treat! I don't even know where to begin to describe this new flavor that was introduced to my palette on Saturday. I have already made plans to return for mothersday lunch. Food was excellent, drinks were fun and flavorful! This place is an absolute gem! 100% recommend!

Great fajitas. I got the mixed (chicken, steak and shrimp) with corn tortilla. Warning…the green hot sauce is HOT and the red is FIRE! The table next to us got the boil so that will be next time for sure. The margarita was very tasty as well. Overall, if you are going to see a show at the Genesee, this could be a good choice for pre/post-show dinner.

Had to wait a while last fri nite til our waiter came over to place our order. My shrimp was like rubber in my fajitas

I visited La Jaiba for the first time, excellent service, very bad food from portions to the taste and visited the canoe Islas Marias Brisa Azul Riviera Nayarit and Seafood My Town, these restaurants have better seasoning and much better portions I ordered breaded squid molcajate Cora and grilled shrimp very tasteless, what a professional way to answer a review

Stopped here late to grab some tacos but must’ve been seeing some older photos because I was told they only have seafood (I think they hear this a lot). Wasn’t disappointed just confused. Nice place, will definitely stop by again when I’m in the mood for seafood.

Best caldo de camarón in town. Got my hungover fix with a prepared squirt.

Try the red snapper! That speaks for itself.
