Wonderful food first of all, from the first time I dined at mama jerk I became obsessed (including screenshot of my card for proof of purchases for credibility not for you to guess how big my back is 😂😂😂) . The staff is wonderful and accommodating to all my weird food requests which is much appreciated. Huge place , always clean, the place just warms you up upon entry I never leave without a smile and laughter. The oxtail , steak Rasta pasta, and Philly eggrolls are my top 3 favorites. BEST BANANA PUDDING I EVER HAD EVER , and thats a lot coming from me . I should have been wrote this review because as a real repeat customer for life , I. Cannot imagine anything below real food , and genuine care coming from this restaurant anything else is defamatory.
I suggest anyone considering on whether they want to visit here or not is to just come down and try it. I GUARANTEE from before you even place your order you’ll just get the feeling you’ve entered a realm of good vibes and even better authentic Jamaican cuisine. Honestly. Besides they have items ranging from $3 and up so you don’t even have to spend more than coffee money to get a glimpse of what you’ve been missing , and if you’ve been missing Mama jerk …… then you’ve been missing alot !!!
I will continue to visit here on my lunch break almost daily , seriously the best food in the town thank you to the owners and all the workers here that deal with my complicated weird orders with a smile hahaha

Do NOT waste your time or money at Mama Jerk N Tings! This place is an absolute insult to Jamaican cuisine. The oxtail philly was not only devoid of any flavor but also contained a bone that nearly shattered my tooth – an unforgivable oversight! The curry goat tasted like it was seasoned with absolutely nothing, and the rice and peas were equally bland. But the real kicker? The atrocious customer service. We waited forever for our food while the staff horsed around in the back. When we finally got our disastrous meal and tried to address the issues, one of the servers literally turned her back on us! My wife, who is Jamaican, was utterly disgusted by this mockery of her culture's food. Dropping $115 here was like throwing money into a black hole. Save yourself the disappointment and go anywhere else for your Jamaican food fix!

Absolutely phenomenal Jamaican food! I tried the jerk chicken and the flavor was perfect—authentic, perfectly spiced, and so delicious. The sides like the rice and plantains are outstanding too. Although they serve fish on the menu, they dont cross-contaminate. Love their new location on Sheridan Road with the expanded seating. Highly recommend!

This is the worst Jamaican meal I have ever tasted. The cook must have bought the Jamaican sauce from a grocery store. The chicken had no flavor, so it was never marinated in herbs. The cabbage was over cooked sloppy not crunch and favorable the candied yam was ok, but that cabbage needed to be thrown away that is how bad it taste and that jerk sauce was awful. I would request a new order, but why order the same nasty dinner. It is $25 down the drain, but never again, never again😔

We called in our first order, and received excellent phone service and order guidance. This chicken is delicious and tender. The cabbage side is a winner. The order was ready promptly. We will be back!

Everything besides the aesthetic which was nice. Everything else felt bare minimum. Not to mention I paid $35 for ox tail pizza and order had none of the toppings I ordered even though the receipt is on box . But I was hungry and had to eat didn’t even time to go back . Oh well . Hope you guys do better .

A friend and I were in town for a show at the theatre and decided to eat here first. I am not familiar with Jamaican food, but I definitely like to try foods with unique flavors and a spicy kick. This restaurant did not disappoint! I ordered jerk chicken with medium hot sauce, and sides of mac n cheese and of rice for sides. Wow! I loved these amazing flavors! The mac n cheese was incredible, and the chicken tasted incredible - full of smokiness and spices that had to be the result of proper slow cooking over smoking coals or wood. The rice was perfect and helped blend all the flavors together. I will definitely go here again when in Waukegan.
