The ribs were delicious let me not forget about those greens and cornbread. I ask the lady did the yams taste like someone grandma cooked them she said yes they were delicious also and the chicken was oh so good.

The food was horrible I ordered the 2pc Fillet Catfish and I got Catfish nuggets I got two sides with it the Mac&cheese was so dry I had to put a slice of cheese and milk and heat it up in the microwave !! If I would have saw the review of the customer who said they got food poisoning and how Test Kitchen didn’t want to take accountability for selling unhealthy food I would have never come to this place!! CUSTOMERS FIRST!! I will never come back to this place!! Absolutely Ridiculous!!!

The service was HORRIBLE there was no communication on when my food was ready so my order sat on the counter for 10mins until the lady with the stank face finally decided to tell me my order was ready. But then a white family came in and they got great service. The DISRESPECT!! every customer should be treated EQUALLY. And OMG the food was bland even the meat and don't get me started on the sauce ugh...not good.. super sweet, taste like honey and water 🤢. Hillary's bbq is way BETTER!! .

I came out to this place a few days ago. I can't stop thinking about it. Unfortunately I'm 50 mins away from this place, I only wish I was closer.
I was on the way to take care of something, I pulled up to the Burger King next to the side of this hidden gem. I cancelled my burger king order and went right inside this place. Warmly greeted, I felt like this was home and super welcoming. I ordered a brisket and fried chicken. Great pricing, all definitely well prepared and home made. This was just a great experience; this place deserves your visit.

Brisket is Fantastic! Turkey BBQ tips are excellent along with the Cole slaw , beans and potatoe salad! Great Staff! Will make another trip back from Chicago!
I wanted to try the test kitchen because someone told me that it was good I usually go to Big Ed's where I know the food is good and safe. I decided to go to The Test Kitchen on January 1st 2026 I was the Third customer in the door at first I thought oh what a nice place thought the food might be good I ordered my meal brisket rib tips and the guy threw in some turkey tips. I ate half of my meal there and took the rest with me a few hours later my stomach began to start cramping later that night tried to go to sleep and ended up waking up to vomit five times I ended up going to the hospital at 4:00 in the morning where I was diagnosed with food poisoning. I experienced diarrhea vomiting stomach cramps and a fever lasted for about another 24 hours I then called The Test Kitchen to let them know of my experience. They did not want to hear it they told me they've been in business for however many years and nothing has ever happened before. They treated me like I was lying and that I made it up I told them that if they wanted to see my Hospital paperwork I was fine showing it to them they did not want to see it because they didn't want to be wrong this was the only food I ate that day and the only place I ate I ended up getting food poisoning and I want this to be a warning to everyone who goes to the Test Kitchen you're gambling with your health. This is the first time in all my years that I have ever experienced food poisoning and I've been around for a while and I am a food connoisseur who's been to a lot of decent places where you don't get sick. What shocked me most of all is that the Test Kitchen did not want to even acknowledge that I got sick they wanted to treat me as it never happened at first all I wanted was my money back and I was told I would get a call in a few days I never got a call and never got my money back I called him several more times to give them the opportunity to make things right and I would just go away but they did not. They wanted to pretend that it didn't happen so I proceeded to call the health department and I'm proceeding to post for everyone to know what they are walking into at The Test Kitchen if you value your health you will still clear of the Test Kitchen big heads is a much better place where I have never got sick. I hope the $62 that you made off of me was worth the 62 plus that you are going to lose because no one wants to get sick at a restaurant that does not appreciate its customers. And that makes them sick.
Sum of the best chicken I have had! I haves tried Gus’s famous Chicago couple others. Great sides also.

Been a restaurant on a poor neighborhood and open for just 4 day and one of those were you guy's could make more money which is Sundayand is close 🤦🏻♂️ you guy's about to go out of business soon you will see 😏 living here in Waukegan for over 20 year's i been seen restaurants go down and they really hustle open 7 days long hour's days open you guy's not ready to have a restaurant I pass by today and seeing the sing close piss me off
