The October fest menu had so much variety and the Sauerbraten was some of the best I'd ever had. We've been to the South Elgin and West Dundee locations and the service was great at both!

Atmosphere was gorgeous ...we sat in the patio area which is right on the Fox River.

Since Paul died this place has gone downhill. Last visit there I became gravely ill and "management" refused to return calls. This is no longer the family restaurant Paul & George started in my youth.

I got the pub chicken sandwich. The blackened chicken breast was dry and over season that’s why it was salty. The bacon was tough; the pretzel bun was stale. I was disappointed.

The Village Squire is a gem! The warm, cozy atmosphere instantly makes you feel at home, especially with their charming Halloween decorations. The Karras family does it right. They always have a great selection of eats to choose from. We have never had a bad experience here. Always reliable good food, and a smiling staff to greet & serve you.

We stopped by today, 10/6/24. We traditionally go to the Crystal Lake location. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer as well as the saganaki. The appetizers were good and brought out promptly. The server was very accommodating, professional and friendly. My Son and I ordered two bowls of soup, avgolemono. The rest of the Family ordered 1 kids burger, 1 kids grilled cheese and the shrimp street tacos. The food was decent and brought to our table promptly. The soup was bad though. I would've given a higher score if the soup didn't taste like water with rice in it. I think it bothers me more because it was the main meal for my Son and I. I was hoping that with saganaki on the menu, they would make a phenomenal avgolemono. Unfortunately, the soup was not good at all, we actually did not finish it. Everything else was good, I hope they work on the soup.

Coming here for at least 20 years, the food is always good but the service and atmosphere has changed since last time I visited. They don't let you draw on the walls anymore even though it's been a tradition for 15+ years, and for the first time I had a rude and inexperienced server.
