I was in the restaurant in wheeling the day after Valentine's Day Sunday the 15th I didn't have a really good experience with the owner. I came in with a gift certificate that was over a year old from the Des Plaines restaurant with no expiration date on it ,and he claimed it's not theirs and they cannot take it , then the waiter went to talk with him. He said OK I'll only give you $50. It was $100 gift certificate. I told him why would I take $50 I paid $100. He got very angry with us at & ok , but at our table start cursing and saying the F word in front of everybody else in the restaurant which was packed. And said that we should not come back in his restaurant, cause he will go broke, oh boy.!!!
That is so rude to treat customers that pay nice amount of dollars to eat there and treat people like that. I would not come in with a gift certificate that was made up....
Very disappointed with the owner of this restaurant. Ricky, the waiter was awesome.!!!

Was wanting to go here for 10+ years. I was so disappointed at nearly every aspect of the experience.

The service was terrible. Was brought some bread and water. Took far too long for return to place orders. Water glasses were empty and not refilled.
We asked for some more bread when placing order. After a long time(other tables seated got their food before ours) the glasses still empty, our food was brought…had to remind for more bread.
We had finished half our entrees before the bread came.

The entrees were all under temperature. The vegetables were poorly seasoned and undercooked.

Both fish dishes(salmon special and fried whitefish(recommended) were not fresh…old fish.

The calamari/octopus entree was overcooked. The octopus was hard and dry. Both were improperly “sauced”/seasoned.

And everything ive heard over the years about the massive portions…tv shows/other people/reviews…conoletely false. The portions for the cery high prices were small.
They definitely do not fall into the so much you take home category. Particularly the octopus/calamari entree.

The coleslaw from the fried dish was not brought out.

Then the dessert pie slices are sold ay $12 per slice. 1/8 of a pie. Ridiculously small for the price. Not to mention the fruit pies can be bought up front for <$10 and the key lime for $25.
Yet the per slice total pie price would be $96. Insane.

It highly unlikely i ever dine here again as it wasnt one component that was poorly done, but every aspect of the meal.

Responding to owner. Dinner Sunday Dec 28

Their cowboy ribeye feed our family of 4 (our kids are still toddlers, but they end up eating most the meat) with the accompanying sides. Do not overlook their red meats here as they serve the best of both surf & turf. I am not the type to give 5 stars lightly and my opinion here as such reflects that their quality of food and service are indeed top tier. What’s more, a high degree of consistency. The ribeye or lamb is actually our treat once in a while, we’re often getting their charbroiled octopus, fishes, and seafood mixes. When we don’t want to cook, Boston Fish is on our short list and more often that any restaurant our go to.
Lou, just as the little boy said to you, we’re lucky to have you so close by.

We happen to dine on a night that was very cold so it looked like there were only four or five people in the entire restaurant. Service was very good. The food consistent as usual. When the host seated us he put us right next to a table where the people were talking extremely loud, very annoying. He could've put us anywhere at the restaurant was empty. He decided to sit us next to these loud people we had to move to different table so we could enjoy our meal without the noisy distraction. Other than that, everything was good.

Great service and food although our table was in a high traffic area and noisy although I asked for a quiet, warm area.

Place was fun but the service we had was rather poor on the night we went. We waited at least 15 minutes to get our drinks ordered and it went on from there. Food was ok. Calamari delicious but very pricey. A couple of us ordered the halibut Vesuvio and it certainly did not look like a Vesuvio dish... though it was quite tasty. Would consider going back and trying something else.

Impeccable service, beautiful dining room. The service could not have been more attentive and helpful. Portions were enormous. High-quality seafood that is incredibly fresh. Will definitely be back.

For the price point you would expect silverware not wrapped in paper napkins and paper wrapped straws on the table.
