I rarely write a review, however, I am writing to express my immense satisfaction with your restaurant. All I can say is, WOW. Your establishment truly goes above and beyond to provide exceptional food and service to your customers.

From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was incredibly warming and truly set a wonderful vibe. The food was remarkably fresh and incomparable to any other restaurant I've visited. The owners' dedication to providing top-tier service, along with the very attentive servers, made for an outstanding experience. If you want a taste of authentic Neapolitan pizza , this is definitely the place to go.

If anyone is in Edwardsville area , I would confidently argue that this restaurant is hands down the best to visit. Thank you for such a memorable dining experience, we will definitely be back!

My family and I went to 1929 Pizza and Wine to celebrate my birthday. The pizza was exceptional. It was the best service we’ve had in a restaurant in town! I even received a hand written card from staff for my birthday. They truly know how to make you feel special and enjoy your time.

1929 in Edwardsville has received glowing reviews and was bustling on a Friday evening, but it didn’t fully meet my expectations. We were seated promptly for our 7:30 reservation, and the service throughout the meal was excellent.

The decor is modern but somewhat sterile, and the dining room is noisy. Some guests may share a communal table. My wife and I were seated at a small two-person table with uncomfortable wooden chairs.

The wine list is extensive, but other drink options are limited and pricey—$9 for a soda or $5 for a 12-ounce beer. We started with the shared plate appetizer, where the Focaccia bread was excellent. The Caesar salad was disappointing, with minimal dressing and Parmesan. It was topped with powdery bread crumbs instead of croutons.

We asked if we could get red sauce on the four cheese pizza instead of Parmesan cream sauce, and our waitress explained that substitutions are not permitted. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and the meatball plate. The pizza was excellent with obviously fresh, flavorful ingredients, thoughtfully balanced and composed. The meatball plate was less impressive. The single large meatball was covered in tasty marinara sauce but the meatball was underdone for my preference; pink all the way through. The accompanying garlic bread was overpoweringly strong. It would certainly keep the vampires away.

Our bill was $107 for appetizer, one salad, two small beers and two entrees. While the pizza was a highlight, I prefer a more casual pizza experience like Dewey’s. 1929 didn’t quite live up to its 5-star hype for me.

As soon as I walked in saw kind and familiar faces. The jazz music, wooded tables, and lighting made it an amazing experience. The food was some of the best pizza I’ve had in a long time; good portions, good price, good pizza.

Mostly positive experience. They did inform us abruptly after 2 hours that they needed the table back for the next reservation. A little heads up would have been appreciated

This place is great. If you’re thinking Pizza Hut…you’re thinking wrong. Think artisan, think food art, think food experience. This menu is awesome. Every single things we tried was terrific and the owner Matt is great!

WILL NOT EAT AT A PLACE THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL OF ADA REGULATIONS
DISGUSTING THAT YOU DON'T GIVE A DAMN AND DON'T TREAT EVERYONE WITH RESPECT
HOPE YOU CLOSE SOON CAUSE FROM WHAT I READ YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS

I dined there on 1/11/2025. Unfortunately, due to the treatment of my disabled sister and I, this will be our first and only experience at 1929 Pizza in Edwardsville.

To start, the handicap paths were not cleared enough of snow to allow her power chair access to get to the entrance. I asked if they had a shovel and was told, “no”.

Not one employee offered assistance!

Two men in our party of 7 had to kick snow out of the way to widen the path just enough to drive her chair through. Then, we had to go through a different entrance to come in a side door to the restaurant. It was so embarrassing and the entire restaurant was watching as if we were their entertainment.

My sister and I finally arrive to the table and as I’m getting her situated, the server is at the tail end of his spiel and my sister and I didn’t hear any of it; as if, we didn’t matter…I asked for a chair to sit her extra items in and was completely ignored. So, of course, I had to accommodate myself.

Dinner was fine; although, you have to ask for everything. For example, we asked for crushed red pepper and we were given a ramekin with approximately 6 flakes or possibly an 1/8 of a teaspoon. To paint the picture, we have a party of 7…so, when the server returned, I asked for at least 6 pinches of red pepper, lol. I had no choice but to laugh, at this point. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the server’s spiel, was informing us that we HAVE to eat family style for a party of 7 or more. Cost was in excess of $400 and 4 of the 7 had 2 alcoholic drinks each…EXPENSIVE!!! Oh, and none of us know if we double tipped the server or not, because we were unclear on whether or not the tip was included. They just brought us food, we had no idea what was coming out. Again, food was fine, but very poor explanation…as none of us knew what we were getting (even the one’s that heard the server’s explanation). Also, during family style dining, you are first served appetizers, then salad, then pizza, and lastly, a cannoli. You would think they would supply you with a clean plate after each round, but, no, we had to ask for that, too…That is, after we were thoroughly disgusted by scraping our plates off in a community bowl that we had on the table.

To end the night, again, no assistance for my sister and we had to ask customers to move so we could exit the side entrance.

To the management at 1929 Pizza, know that handicap people are people too and train your staff to treat ALL people with respect and dignity.

We will not be back; however, I hope you take time to educate yourself and your team on ADA law that protects people with disabilities and just do better.

Wheelchair accessibility: There are 2 ways to access the sidewalk. However, one entrance was snow packed and the other didn’t have the sidewalk path cleared wide enough. Plus, cars were parked over the curb. Read my post to know our experience. I understand it had snowed and paths were somewhat cleared, but not for someone that was in a chair, which is the whole point! You will be fine if the weather is nice.

On Saturday 12/28 my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with pizza, cannolis, and a fantastic roasted squash to start. We had great service, and appreciated the staffs attentiveness to our table, especially Winston! The food was exceptional, as always. Our family will continue to to make this the place to celebrate all of our special occasions.
