Bruschetta 7/10Caesar Salad 9/10Sausage & Pepper Pizza 11/10The pizza at this place is a thing of beauty. All of the components were perfect and the crust is something that would take years to master. I drove 40 minutes to try it and I’ll be driving 40 minutes to try it again.

Finally tried 1929 Pizza & Wine - hands down the best pizza we've had since moving to Illinois last year. We ordered the bread and butter board - the butter is made in house, Garlic and Herb butter, salted butter and a fig butter that was amazing, especially while drinking wine.We also got two pizzas - the pepperoni and the special - the best way it was explained was it was like dipping a sandwich into pea soup - but it was so much better.Matt waited on us, and instantly we felt like we belonged and were long time friends. Can't wait to go back - I can see us there every week!

The charcuterie board with the homemade ricotta and butters along with the roasted garlic was a meal in itself! We'll be back soon.

O M GThis is going to be long winded - but SOOO deserving...An amazing pizza and wine spot that knocks it out of the park, the neighborhood and the state! My only complaint is this is 40 miles from me...although my butt could not handle being closer...I'm popping buttons already after the beet and olive bruschetta, Caesar salad, sausage and pepper pizza and canoli, oh but don't forget like 4 glasses of delicious wines (yeah, tried multiples, because why not!)I loved seeing such a different bruschetta offering and it looks like that's a special and this changes, so excited to see what the next one is.The Caesar salad was baby romaine tossed in the most delicious home made dressing and topped with roasted bread crumbs.Let's get to the pizza...I knew when we walked in from the crowded tables and smell in the air this was a home run, but then saw pizzas being delivered to the tables and almost cried. I looked at my hubby and we both knew THIS was going to be the pizza place to end them all. I don't get the love of cracker dough and provel and thankfully neither does 1929!!! This place takes pride and time in creating the bread and dough here and man does it show. The crust had beautiful bubbles that they know better not to pop and parts of this beautiful pie gets a little charred from their expertly cooked pizza whisperer who monitors that wood fired ovenPerfectly seasoned homemade sausage, bursts of tomato bites, the right amount of mozzarella lay on top of the most wonderful chewy, crisp pillowy crust. No joke, I wanted to stand up and start clapping, throw streamers and cry at the same time. We met the owners and turned into giddy children in the presence of greatness.Make a reservation, because they sell out! We didn't have one and he was gracious to give us a table, but he ran out after we got there, so will reserve the next time we go because we want like 4 pizzas and that wasn't possible that night.Obviously we will be back and will bring an army of NON provel lovers.

I like $6 glasses of wine, John Coltrane tunes, & tasty pizza. 1929 Pizza and Wine is a very nice place to spend the evening.

First time there. Started with the Bread and Butter board, a small plate of bread and 3 different butters, and a Caesar salad. Bread was great and salad had great flavor. For pizza, we went with the Special - Carbonara and the Sausage and Peppers. Both pizzas were delicious and the pizza crust was the perfect. The Carbonara pizza was phenomenal. Two people can easily share a pizza but we just wanted to try a couple different ones since it was our first time there. Ended with the cannoli, which was a lemon curd this week. It was also very delicious. Everything was made from scratch with fresh ingredients and you could really tell. Service was exceptional. Wine choices were great. Casual atmosphere but also felt upscale. Great for dinner with friends or a date. Can't wait to go back!

First time there. Please of free parking around the restaurant. Had a reservation and the hostess seated us right away. The owner was pretentious and the food average. I liked the set up but the owner didn't respond to my complement on his starter. He was more interested in his explanation on getting organic vegetables from Oregon. We have great organic farms locally.

We hear its a great pie, just can't get it to have oneSome Food for thought for The Management:Might want to stop turning business awayFacebook convo about 1929 PizzeriaRM:I'm sitting across the street from 1929 Pizza in Wood River with four customers. Party of one...lol. Empty tables. Only accepting reservations tonight. Nobody there. kind of funny.RM:I've seen them turn away several customers and there's only six people in there now it's amazing and from the reservation page if you're 15 minutes late you forfeit your reservation so all these people technically have forfeited their reservations but they're not letting anybody in it's amazing might be the last time I dine here if everCRCall and make a reservation for 10RM:I made a reservation for 7:30 and I'm going to go to Domino's. Lollol. Good idea but I don't want to get banned but maybe I do I don't know if I'll ever come here again because I think it's gone to their head their successCRwell don't make it in your nameRM:CR, if you do it online they know who you are and if I call by phone they have my phone number so I don't really want to mess with it but it is a good idea. It should teach him a lesson because what they're doing is nonsenseCRgive me the number. I'll do itRM:CR I don't know the number but it's easy to look up 1929 PizzaRM:I just went by again three quarters empty at 5:30 so I wonder how long it's going to take them to realize that reservations is ridiculous for a restaurant like this they're losing money because several people could be in there but because of the reservation policy here at 5:33 they have 10 people there at mostRM:No take out too. They're losing money. Because they have a half empty restaurant turning away people that would be eating right now. And it's almost 45 minutes after it's opening so a lot of people aren't showing up including me at 7.30.RM:Meanwhile Domino's here in Wood River is swamped..no reservation necessary lol Clearly being mismanaged. Need more staff, they have the demand, maybe some assistants for the chef?, a better scheduler? Some how pissing off your future customer base does not strike me as a winning business strategy.
