So here’s my honest review. Anything that’s “wrong” with this place is completely 1st world problems. We chose this place during our visit to see family because I wanted to wake up everyday and see Lake Michigan and enjoy the forest preserve. It delivers 100% 5 stars for that!!! Just left the hotel this morning and will not be returning. I read some reviews before going and I was hoping they were wrong. Pulled up to a hotel that had not had any love clearly in years. Walked up to our room and there were overflowing garbage cans in the halls that smelled so bad. The entire 3rd floor smelled like weed. There were dogs barking in the hotel room all night. Just returned from a wonderful stay at Illinois Beach Hotel and highly recommend it. The room was exceptionally clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
