It has a nice terrace and it is also nice ambience inside, a bit small but bright and cosy. Good food and fast and friendly service. Good variety of drinks and cocktails.

Parking: A bit difficult to find parking for the boat because of the boat rentals.

If you read the many reviews on this place, most of the negative comments are true. Service was not great, yet they were not overly busy. The first table of the day (family of the sever) still sat dirty after 2 hours. Our server was friendly, but the other sever was short with us as well as other random customers. The price of the food is definitely on the high side. The chowder came out barely warm, but our server was not around to tell, so we ate it luke warm. It was not a great chowder. Even though there were only 3-4 tables, our food took a very long time to get to our table. We had cod and walleye sandwiches that were all very good. The fourth person had lunch size mahi. To say it was small is an understatement. A side of regular ff was $7. It was a nice restaurant with a great location, but the attitude and service from the staff and the very overpriced and small portions make it a one and done.

If they’re trying to go out business, they’re well on their way. I have never been so embarrassed by an establishment that’s supposed to provide hospitality to the point it made me cry. I tried to take my weekend guests here for a nice dinner and was met with pure anger, hostility, and aggressive rudeness. Their website encourages making reservations, which we did. We arrived to an empty restaurant and asked if we could sit outside, which resulted in me and my guests being bullied and berated. Again, there was one inside table occupied and absolutely empty on the patio. We were told that it was their policy that if you made a reservation, you MUST sit inside. No excptions. We tried very politely to resolve the situation which made seemed to make them even angrier. The awful waitress felt now felt it necessary get the cook to get involved and bully us. Needless to say, we left very upset with our afternoon ruined and ended up at The 6 which thankfully made up for one the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. They were kind welcoming and provided us with exceptional service. 5 stars to them.

Had an absolutely horrendous experience at Waterfront Bistro today. Apparently we made the mistake of making a reservation and having the galls to ask to be seated outside. The exceptionally rude hostess informed us that reservations were not allowed to be seated outside. Keeping in mind there was an abundance of seating outside. We then requested to cancel our reservation and be treated as walk-ins where the outside seating was first come first serve. Again, the adeptly unprofessional hostess denied us a seat. You lost our business tonight, and in the future due to your absurd seating policy and woefully untactful staff.

If you haven’t been before or haven’t been in a while, give it a chance (or another chance). The food is excellent and my husband says it’s the best filet in the county, and trust me he had looked. There is no wrong choice on the menu. Go. Try. Enjoy.

On multiple occasions this restaurant has had the rudest staff I’ve ever interacted with. Im officially done offering my business. After making a reservation for Father’s Day lunch, I called to ask if we may sit outside and was told outside is a first-come first-serve basis. When we arrived, there was only 2 other parties in the restaurant. Many seats were available outside. We asked if we could please cancel the reservation to sit outside instead. We were very rudely and angrily told no, and that they had just explained this to me on the phone.
Being told no is completely fine, but treating your customers like a disgusting disease isn’t. I feel bad that the staff is clearly so unhappy with their lives that they have to consistently treat patrons so poorly.

Small restaurant. We waited about 45 mins before our order was taken. About 2 hours til we received our food. Some of the food was good. The crab cakes were really greasy and over priced. The male server was overwhelmed or something. He was a bit erratic, short and snippy. His frantic energy made us uncomfortable. We ended up with a young female server that did a wonderful job. Great view if you sit outside.

All three of us ended up sharing a piece of something that the other didn't have. Everything was delicious: nothing was over or under cooked.

Good presentation. Great food. Small portions. Way to expensive for what you get.

Spontaneous road trip to Michigan led us to this charming lake front bistro. We were greeted with a smile, and "find a seat." As we made our way to the back by the window to take in the view of Lake James, we were happily distracted by the nautical ambiance. We perused the surprisingly high end menu, but reasonable pricing and I settled on the Cuban. It was piled high with a variety of meats and each bite was terrific. My husband is vegan and was able to find a delicious flatbread to enjoy. The toppings could have been more, but the flavor was there. The only miniscule complaint I have or rather suggest, is to move the large trash can that was on the porch imparing our view of the lake.Bravo Waterfront Bistro ?
