On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina

On the Border has been one of my favorites since growing up here. Made the 40 minute drive from where we are now to have it for dinner and was truly disappointed. Sad to see the changes to our favorite items. You could always count on having some of the best rice and now it’s a tomato mess of an excuse of rice. I’ve never seen so many tomatoes in rice before. Another item that has noticeably changed were the tortilla chips. They were the best big yellow corn chips you could find and now they are frail white chips that just crumble, half the basket was crumbs every time we got some. Thankfully the empanadas and tortilla soup were still winners. Service was also bad as it took 20 minutes for a server to talk to us (not busy but understaffed I’m guessing?). The order, after finally placed, did come out in good time. After so many memories here .. I’m sad to say I don’t think I’ll be making the trip again.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time in a couple of months. They totally changed their menu, and dropped the items that we liked ordering. Service seemed to be fine, but since they dropped our favorite dishes, I don't see us going back. Very unfortunate since this was my favorite restaurant 😕. Hopefully Chi Chi's will make a comeback. On The Boarder just doesn't get it. We did not stay. You know what they say... if it's not broke, don't fix it! Honestly, I wouldn't give it 1 star.

The food was decent just not what was expected in flavor and style. I got a combo fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak. It was burnt because their was no sauce although they gave me butter to use???? The restaurant was bought out by Pappas from Houston Texas a year ago so they need to upgrade the quality and taste of the meals.

Ordered the fajitas and they were terrible. Chicken had a layer of fat; there was no vegetables only big round onions under the chicken. Rice was hard and asked for new but took forever. Will not go back

Great food here. Love the tex mex mix of flavors. The salsa here is our favorite. The service struggles at time due to underataffing, and the atmosphere is showing its age. Regardless we go back time an time again.

I came in saturday 11/1…I sat in the bar & Heather was my server. she was GREAT! very nice & personable. i will definitely be back when she is there!

I seated myself in bar love the tableside guacomole!! My bartender Bri was very friendly and service was 💯. I definitely recommend and will request her as our server

OMG Brisket tacos were amazing! We LOVE the beef fajita quesadill. Gave us large table for car seat. TY! 2 out of 4 of us stayed late to talk & waitress was cool with it. Can't wait to return to try Brisket Quesadilla! Thanks for being such a great place to meet my Goddaughter

Their Chille Relleno is horrible. They don't char the pepper and remove the skin, leaving a pepper that is tough and bitter. I don't know what kind of cheese they used but it wasn't what is normally found in Chille Relleno. It was more like a melted plastic with a bad aftertaste. Other than that, their other dishes were quite food. I will go back but when I want a Chille Relleno I will go elsewhere.
