Great location, close to everything in a small town . Great coffee shop right across.
As for the building, it's an old building with a squeaking and uneven floor.
Understaff, but staff there is super friendly and very helpful.

Walkability: Small town but walking distance to coffee shop, pizzerias, liquor shop, barber shop and e.t.c

Quaint hotel on the town square. The room is nice, there is a window unit for heat and air due to the age of the building. Everything else in the room is very modern. Both the king bedroom and bathroom are big and spacious. Little winding halls make it feel like a mini maze getting to the room. It's very quiet and peaceful in the area. Very nice rural town and surrounding area. Beautiful area. Only negative is there doesn't appear to be any wifi in the hotel. All in all definitely will stay again at The Sherman. Love it.

Rooms: Very clean and tidy. Comfortable bed, lots of space around room, TV mounted (didn't use), and desk with a decent chair. Big bathroom with walk in shower, modern sink, and modern toilet.

Nearby activities: The area offers a few options, all within walking distance. Pizza Place, Micro Brewery, and a couple other options

Safety: Very safe. Kids playing and families out walking and in the sitting park. Very home town feeling.

Walkability: Side walks and paths through out the area. Very walkable.

Really cool hotel built in 1852. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and bars. Great service.

The rooms were large clean and pleasant. While there is a wheelchair ramp to the front of the facility, there is no lift to get to the second floor where all the rooms are. The staff is very friendly the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast consists of a granola bar a fruit cup orange juice 8 oz and a cheese danish. I had been hoping for some scrambled eggs, but they don't serve hot breakfast. Overall, I would recommend the Sherman as a nice place to stay.

I try to stay at the Sherman every time I am in Batesville. It is always exciting to see what room you will get as I am almost positive no two are the same. It is close to everything I need and it is always clean. The staff is friendly.

We were disappointed to find out that the restaurant is closed. No one told us this.

Pleasant visit. Checked in late. Karen the night concierge was so delightful and welcoming. She made sure we took advantage of the complimentary travel breakfast. Nothing fancy just a packed school lunch style pastry, juice cup, and granola bar but it was nice just the same. I was a bit disappointed the attached restaurant was closed. Karen pointed out a few alternate options for dining within walking distance. Room was quaint and clean. We actually did love the firm mattress! Easy checkout as we grabbed our paper bag travel breakfast and headed home. Thanks for a pleasant stay. ?

We absolutely love this place. It holds so many special memories for us and our family. Over 50 years of them and still coming. I hope we can hold on to this gem for at least our lifetime. We go about 3 times a year and always enjoy our stay. Thank you to all the ones that keep it alive!

Restaurant Rating, not hotel. They need to have better signage that the restaurant is now just the bier hall in the back next to the bier garden. Especially something more warming to enter through than a door that states "must be 21 after 9pm". Also something better accessible for older folk. I'm all for German Heritage, I took Herr Koors classes and went to Germany with him but the hall resembles more of a German themed bar than a bier hall.On to the food. Definitely bar food vibes which it's a bar in the back good job, nailed it. I had the Pool Hall Cheese burger. Don't get the bier cheese option only, it's awful without cheese. I had to assemble my burger myself and pour my own cheese on it which does not stay on the burger or have flavor and it made my bun tear apart. If I wanted to eat at a bar I would have stayed in Oldenburg and eaten at the Pub.I have no idea what made them choose this business decision but it was definitely a poor one and doesn't honor the restaurant known as the Sherman.
