Pavilion Indiana Dunes - Beach Café

Beautiful views amazing! Good is also good. However, the service is horrible. Waitress took forever to bring out food. No napkins were given. Asked for ketsupa nd mayo since hamburgers are unfinished. She never came back. After an hour and a half I had ordered an additional burger to go she forgot to put in the order. So we had to wait about her hour and a half fifteen minutes. It’s up to you if you want to try but be prepared for a long wait…we spent $70 but did not leave a tip as it was not earned in this one. Usually leave 20%-30% we left it for the singers who performed very well. This was dinner. Disappointed with service. They should have more workers if they want it to improve. Coming from Chicago. Expected better…

Horrible lazy waitresses and rude hostesses

What's not to love....food, beer and drinks nice bartenders million dollar view, awesome beach and ice cream and food outside too

Poorly managed. Extremely long waits and unable to serve food. Great view is all they got.

They have a good amount of seating. But are unable to actually seat and feed people. I got there at 6p on a Thurs. Was told 20 minute wait to seat 2 people. I was puzzled because there were 5 tables and 15 seats open. We waited to be seated for 75 minutes and still they were unable to seat us, so we left.
Their reason for not being able to seat or feed us was 'sorry our kitchen is very small'.

Why tell us 20 minute wait and they still couldnt seat us after 75 minutes of waiting? Either their staff doesnt understand how their own restaurant works or we were lied to.

Also doesnt make sense to me in that they built a restaurant. But I was told by the staff they are unable to service all the seats when the restaurant is 2/3 full (let alone 100% full).

Rude staff

Came here to order ice cream. I was completely ignored by staff while they chatted with 1 customer for at least 5 minutes. After serving that customer they walked away and closed the window. This was not a busy time and I was the only other customer in line. There was a young blond guy and a plus sized dark haired girl with a bad attitude. After waving them down, the girl finally came to the window. I asked if this is the right place to order and she immediately snapped that she can only take 1 order at a time and was very rude. Worst service ever.

2 1/2 hours after ordering food — still no food. Got up and left. Wait staff laughed at us as we left. Completely unprofessional.

Arrived at 7 PM on Friday night and we were told they would have a table ready for us pretty quick even though it was busy. We didn’t get seated until almost 9 PM. We had a party of 11 and we ordered our food. They came back and said they couldn’t handle our order so we could only order appetizers. So we all ordered appetizers and they came back a short time later and said they couldn’t Accommodate that either. Meanwhile, we are sitting close to the kitchen window and can see the chef eating. We were very disappointed, considering we had heard nothing but nice things about this place. I don’t think I will go back.

We arrived around 6pm and placed our order on the rooftop. It wasn’t busy at the time, but we watched multiple tables who arrived after us receive their food while we continued to wait. At 6:30, we were told our order was second in line and would be out shortly. By 6:47, after following up again, we were suddenly told there were now three orders ahead of us. With a time constraint, we asked to just pay for the one soft drink we’d received. At that point, they said our food was almost ready and offered to box it up. We finally left at 7:02pm with a bag of food that didn’t match the value of what we ordered. As a consolation, they offered an Italian ice—which neither of us could have due to dietary restrictions. All in all, this was an extremely disappointing experience with poor communication and customer service.

Absolutely LOVE the Dunes Pavilion. They have such a gorgeous venue plus their team is so nice and easy to work with. If you're looking for a venue to have an event at, I highly recommend them. Huge shoutout to Kayla!

So glad they finally fixed up this place. It used to be an eye sore on the prettiest peace of land in NWI. The roof top bar is great would definitely recommend going at sunset to see the view over the lake. My only complaint is the new bathrooms are a dump. Saw some guy slumped over the toilet after an od. I always carry narcan with me after having a close friend od. but i didn’t use it because he gave me a dirty look earlier in the day. may have just been an accident but oh well he’s brain dead now. Besides the bathroom the new pavilion makes me proud to be a member of the region. Can’t wait to visit many more times over the summer.

The Pavilion is located within Indiana State Park. The location is right on the beach. There is sitting outside with gorgeous views of the water. You do need to pay $12 to get into the park. The food was ok, but I thought it was overpriced and quality was average. Unfortunately, when we went there was only one person running the show because the rest of the staff called off. She was able to manage it by herself. The Pavilion is located by a couple of trails as well, if you would like to explore.
