Root & Bone - Chesterton

fantastic dinner ! chicken best I've had, the cocktails wow very tasty not some sugar water and booze. The best I've had, if you like a great drink and appetizer make this your stop.

Yes, I recommend. We were at Root & Bone a few weeks ago with a group of 10-12 for “Friends-Giving” and everything was great. I said to myself I need to come back here. Sadly, until this gathering, I had totally forgotten about this Chesterton restaurant, tucked back (and rather hidden) in the strip mall behind some fast food places east of 49. It us very convenient to the subdivision in which I live. At the gathering, I had a Turkey pot pie-which was a special. It looked like the usual basic pot pie when it arrived, but thankfully it was not a basic pot pie ….not bland…so very flavorful and with the right amount of spicy….so good! I said to myself Im coming back. Just this past week, we were busy, wanted carry out but not pizza and definitely not fast food. We ordered Root & Bond carry out: rack of spare ribs and corn bread. Order was plentiful, fall of the bone juicy ribs, the flavor was so good. Prior to our larger group gathering, I had not been to the Root Bone since it opened but I will definitely be back, soon. If you go definitely check out the ribs. They have 1/2 rack too. The only thing I did not like about Root-Bone for dine in, is that it is a bit bright in the dining room for evening dinner, so if you are there with the love of your life ❤️, or I guess a rendez-vous🤫, maybe if you ask nicely-and not bothersome to other patrons- they will dim the lights for you. LOL. Thank you!

Biscuits were fantastic. Grits were creamy. The duck special was perfection. Banana-bread creme brûlée was a nice southern twist on a standard dessert. Mason was an attentive & helpful server. Go now and get the biscuits!

Mason was a great server and very friendly. Food was delicious! Apple pie was one of the best I have had.

This was maybe our 10th stop at Root & Bone. It's a quieter time post summer crowds. Still - our favorite place in terms of style, service, food quality, and drinks. The price is well matched to the quality. I hope R&B is here to stay. Our favorites as a family include the BLT fried green tomatoes, all the salads, the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, mac & cheese, and the burger. My kids love it too.

The food here is exceptional. Unique spins on classic southern cuisines. Everything we had exceeded expectations - shrimp & grits, turkey pot pie and the biscuits with chicken du jus was divine. Don’t sleep on this place!

Was just passing thru and the brisket meatloaf is wonderful as well as the cornbread.

Root and Bone is a quaint restaurant that successfully delivers on their promises. From the southern charmed atmosphere to the delectable menu. A warm and inviting service, the staff at Root and Bone are nothing short of pleasant and knowledgeable. My wife and I dined here for our wedding anniversary and it felt like we've been eating there for years. Our server was so nice and caring, offered suggestions and always asked how our courses were. We had the crab cakes for our app and they were amazing. My wife had the brisket meatloaf and I had the spare ribs. Both dishes were delicious and felt like they were made at home. Thank you everyone at Root and Bone for helping make our experience enjoyable. We will be back.

Tonight my husband and I went to Root and Bone for date night dinner. The service was amazing. Our server Ryan went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The food… where to start… The cheddar cornbread appetizer was to die for! Wow! Drinks were spot on, dinner was also delicious. The brisket meatloaf with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes was my husband’s favorite meal in months! I had the pork and grits and the cheddar grits were delicious and the pork was tender and juicy. We will definitely be back!

Thought we'd try something different and well...It wasn't great. I wanted to love the brisket meatloaf, but it was well done and had a semi-sweet red sauce on top. The mashed potatoes were cold and probably out of a box also had some type of reddish gravy. The mac and cheese is described as ooey gooey, but it's mostly dry and krafty. It's not even as good as Velveta. My goal is to take it home and attempt to fix it. I should have known that it perhaps wasn't great when we walked in to only 3 other dinner guests on a Sunday evening. I unfortunately do not reccommend.

I wish I took photos, but trust me, the food is very delicious. My husband and I had the crab cakes, fried chicken, brisket meatloaf, whipped potatoes, and the s’mores dessert. Everything was brought out in a timely manner.

The atmosphere is very charming, and I like that the music is not obnoxiously loud. It allowed me to enjoy my conversation. The service was great and our server, Mason, was very pleasant.

Needless to say, we will be back.

Have eaten here before in January and the "Brisket" meat loaf was great. Last night it was stringy and at times tough. There was an overload of Brussel sprouts that were so tough, I could not cut or chew them,. The bacon Manhattan drink was watered down, almost flavorless. The attached piece of bacon was too tough to chew. I was hoping to return back as last time I was here in the area I had 4 meals here. Now I will not return.
