I just came back to El Mexicano after many years and it is wonderful to see that the location has been well maintained and very clean. My friend from Mexico thought that his Torta had a true traditional Mexican flavor. So I can wholeheartedly recommend El Mexicano. Now, keep in mind that it is not a fancy place, it is a humble restaurant with awesome cuisine and caring staff.

This restaurant truly changed my view on cheap dishes. The food melted in my mouth, with each bite getting better and better. Truly unremarkable experience
Stopped in for a quick lunch. It was quiet. Food was as good as I remembered. Chose the Cuban Torta this time. Have had the tacos and burritos other times. Every time has been great and reasonable prices. I ate half the Torta before thinking to take a picture and get a short rest before finishing this off. Very filling meal and was served with chips and salsa.

Taqueria el Mexicano was my favorite spot on the State Street Taco Tour. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Inside there is lots of space and lots of great food. They have a wide selection of meats to choose from. They also have real sugar cane Coca Cola.

The food is always great, it's quiet, service is quick. Everything is always seasoned and cooked to perfection. The only thing that would make it better is if they served nopales.
The food was delicious and very well priced. Their barbacoa is packed with flavor and their lengua is well seasoned and melts in your mouth. They also have a great selection of soft drinks, including Jarritos and a wide variety of Jumex juices. The staff was also kind and helpful and gave great service.
