It seemed like everyone from the staff to the customers to the people waiting to be seated were absolutely miserable. The staff seemed confused and mismanaged. The food was lackluster even for the basic diner fare they offered. The ice was good and a good portion, however we got it to go and it didn't have the toppings we asked and paid for. The building itself is lovely, but not enough to make up for the experience. Not worth the trip or the wait.

We had our company party at Zaharakos on January 16th, 2026, and it was a wonderful experience! Carol and her staff had everything running smooth and the food was on point. We are so appreciative of the effort that it took to pull off an event of this size. I definitely recommend coming to Zaharakos for a family dinner night or just for some delicious ice cream!

I ordered over the phone, they didn't get the order correct, even when I repeated it. They discontinued at least 3 of the items we ordered. They did not make alternatives correctly as we ordered. We did not receive all of the order. The service was terrible, staff unknowledgeable, and ill equipped to pack and handle to go orders.

We came in for lunch. It was not busy at all , maybe 3 tables were taken. We sat for awhile and finally the waitress was like “oh, I didn’t see you, we are so busy lol” (again,3 tables are full) Didn’t get napkins or silverware. Had to get it ourselves. The waitress forgot to put in some of our food & after waiting 40 min we didn’t want to wait another 40 for the forgotten food. If you can’t handle a small lunch crowd, how do the weekends go? Definitely disappointed to say the least. I wouldn’t spend time or money again.

The employees are so rude every single time we go. It’s never the same employee. It’s just seems that’s how it is there. They closed the food service at 6 on a Saturday night, started flipping every single chair at 8 while people were still seated and they didn’t even close until 9. It stays busy because it’s pretty and a landmark but if this was just a regular business it would not do as well. The wait times for food and a greeting are also so long.
We come here about once a year. Every time we come the experience is absolutely terrible. We walked in at 7:30 tonight and our greeting was “we stopped serving food at 6”. Fine, we were just getting ice cream anyway. We wait awhile to be greeted at the table and someone finally comes. About ten minutes later another group and a couple walks in. At 8, they start flipping chairs. I checked my phone and they don’t close until 9. No one even has their ice cream yet. We finally get our ice cream and no one has spoons. We get the ice cream flight and they didn’t bring the sauces or bowls. They were also out of half the ice cream. They crossed them out with sharpies on the menu so I guess it’s permanent. This is such a historic restaurant and I am always shocked at how terribly it’s ran, how rude everyone is, and how slow they are. It’s like they’re always so mad that people are there. I can only assume that the manager or owner is not involved or is indifferent to the daily business. It’s sad for a landmark like that to be run by people who don’t care.

I came here 2 years ago and had a wonderful experience even though it was Christmas break and it was crowded, they got us right in and it was fast and organized. Today I visited and it was show and not a fun one. We waited way longer than necessary, open tables everywhere. There was a poor girl hosting who clearly was new, a manger (some woman in all black with a manger tag) who was doing essentially nothing except walking around and being on her phone. While wait staff (only 2) a woman with dark hair who was BUSTING her tail and the only reason anything was getting done and a younger girl who seemed to also be doing nothing . There were FOUR people behind the counter just standing there or scooping ice cream and not even pitching in to get drinks or run food. Finally a guy in a maroon shirt came from out of no where to help the only waitress who was actually working. I have never one waitress who was essentially running a whole restaurant by herself and I mean literally running. Also I notice the bus boy was doing a great job and even though it was a mess the food was good. This would be 1 star if not for that one poor waitress. She deserves to be recognized.

Was very disappointed in both the service and the quality of the food! Pretty sure they left three of the cheeses, the cream, and the flavor out of the 4 cheese Mac n Cheese; the bacon (or most of it) out of the BLT; the cheese curds were reportedly bland (especially since they no longer have the marinara that was listed on the menu)! The fries & ice cream were decent and the place is gorgeous! Definitely won’t be going back for a meal - maybe dessert?!?
Very sad experience. Went in and was elated at the nostalgic atmosphere and furnishings. Went on the waiting list at 6:30pm. Came back at 7:15pm to check on our place in line and the hostess said we were skipped. I told her we didn’t receive a text and she said ok I’ll be next. Waited 4ft from the hostess and asked at 8:00pm why others were being seated. Somehow there was a mixup and no attempt was made to apologize or correct.

While the interior of this space is absolutely stunning, our experience hosting a party here was disappointing. We provided a head count in advance to ensure proper staffing, yet we hardly saw our server throughout our reservation. It took 20 minutes to receive our initial drinks, which arrived watered down with melted ice.
The food was equally underwhelming; my cheeseburger was quite dry and the lettuce was brown. Throughout the event, no one checked in on our group to see if we needed anything. On a positive note, the brownie sundae was delicious—definitely the highlight of the night. It’s a lovely spot for a quick dessert, but I wouldn't recommend it for hosted events or a full meal.
