Stay for the Ice Cream that makes you feel like a kid again, but run away from extremely loud organ that plays when actual kids press the button. Seriously, that thing is the single loudest machine on planet Earth. The ice cream is top notch, 10/10, you should go here, but... that organ... They actually have a table directly in front of it. Who do they put there and they go, "This is fine!"? The screaming baby next to us was a more welcome sound than the organ. Once the song finished and the worst family in the world was satisfied, off in the distance you hear a sound. The sound of a SECOND organ. Sweet baby jesus, why? What possible reason do they have for playing it that loud. I really can't think of any reason other than torture. They punish you... wait that's it! They punish you for eating the ice cream. This is some classical conditioning to associate the worst sound on the planet to eating the most delicious ice cream. Zaharakos is out here making us healthier. I hear the joyous crescendos of Mozart and I put my ice cream cone down and run. Cardio supports heart health. The service was nice. Our server couldn't hear our order and asked to repeat it. You might be going, "Oh, the organ?", but you'd be wrong. They had an ear piece with other employees talking to them and they just weren't listening to us. Funny enough, they waited to talk to us until the organ was done playing, so they have to notice. I wonder if they have a favorite tune. I wonder if they even hear it...wait... the ear piece??!! They don't hear it, they save themselves by wearing ear protection so only WE must endure. This place is something else. Also, the ice cream is really, really good. They take reservations, oddly enough, but unless they let you specify where NOT to be seated, you can just walk in most of the time.

I actually posted 10 stars but five did not show up. Our family is from Cincinnati, with nationally recognized ice cream and dining options. They should all take a field trip to this establishment to see how to do it right. Zaharakos Restaurant beats them all by far. The parlor and museum are spectacular with working mechanical bands that belt out perfect tunes, antique soda fountain mechanisms, a pristine ice cream bar and impeccable architectural design from long ago that surrounds you everywhere. I am a lover of quarter sawn white oak. Theirs is a true site to see - chairs, tables, paneling and much more. The ice cream sundaes were excellent, the service was speedy and provided by a refreshing team of young, ethusiastic people. If you are travelling in southern Indiana, I highly recommend a stop here, and to see all that beautiful Downtown Columbus has to offer.

We recently had our daughters wedding shower at Zaharakos. We rented the 2nd floor room. It had tall ceilings, natural light, and was an absolutely beautiful space. They had an elevator to use for guests that needed that option. We coordinated our rental with Carol Frische. She was amazing to work with. She answered questions quickly, and helped us plan the food for the event. They had several food options to select from. Their food was fantastic. Since their specialty is home made ice cream our guests enjoyed the ice cream bar to make their own dessert. The staff were very helpful, and friendly. They even helped load and unload the vehicles. They went above and beyond to make our event special. I would highly recommend booking an event at Zaharakos, it will not disappoint.

Great place for customizable sodas and ice cream treats. They have a limited menu but the food is pretty good. It has a great atmosphere but be aware that the electronic organs play music rather frequently. It can get loud. Bring some quarters if you want to play a specific song. The historical soda fountains are really cool to look at. The ice cream portions are huge. 2 scoops is enough for two adults to share easily.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly!

I reserved a table on Yelp for my grandma's 93rd birthday. Carol and staff went way above and beyond! We arrived to a birthday banner, festive table decor, and the most beautiful hot fudge sundae I've ever seen followed soon after. It was so special and my grandma felt like Queen for the Day!I can't thank you enough. It brought back wonderful memories and my grandma had the best day. Highly recommended!

Best place to get ice cream. Takes me back in time to my childhood. I have been going there for years. I believe it was like 1965 my first time

Absolutely a must see place. The building and the artifacts they have inside were so cool to walk around and see. Literally pieces of history everywhere. The staff were amazing, nice, and spot on with their recommendations. Got a brownie sundae. It’s the size of my head! Exactly what I needed! Will visit again!
