First time there! Oscar was an awesome server. Made you feel welcome. Had the salmon hushpuppies and Brisket Sanwhich. They were so good. A lot of good choices. Will try the fried rib the next time.

Food and beverages are amazing. Such amazing vegan options! Unfortunately it felt like our server was new. Messed up our order and forgot to bring drinks until we reminded him. Asked to purchase a bottle of Bourbon and Old fashioned to go. He brought the old Fashioned but we never got the bottle of Bourbon. . .We will be back because the vegan Reuben and burnt tips are absolutely amazing.Vegetarian options: We go here for the vegan Reuben sandwich!!!The French fries are seasoned well too. Burnt tips are seitan and another way to get more of their yummy BBQ sauce! Our kid got the pulled 'jackfruit' and it was really good as well.

It was my first time there, the bartender was very nice and the drinks were great. The food was also good. Will return.

This place was so wonderful! Delicious craft cocktails, great menu, yummy food, and such kind, welcoming folks. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend! We dined there with our two year old and experienced them to be very kid friendly! Especially recommend the Brussels sprouts, bison burger and salmon hush puppies.

Excellent ribs, the best I've had in a long time. Atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Wait staff super friendly and upbeat. Do recommend. Four stars because their menu prices are outdated on Google.

With dinner only weekday service and CP Square being a busy place on the weekends, it took us a while to find the time to try this place. It was absolutely delicious. They start you with a basket of house made potato chips, pickles and the three house made BBQ sauces. We had the BBQ sampler as an appetizer, this was an abundant amount of food add a side or two and this in itself is a meal for 3-4 people. The pork shoulder melts in your mouth, and the rib tips are full of flavor. Andoulie smoked sausage did not disappoint. I'm personally not a fan of deep fried ribs, however the Alabama White sauce was killer. We also tried the Ruben. The marble rye was no match for these thick juicy full slices of tender corned beef. I was perfectly happy to use my fork and knife. Don't skip the brussel sprouts drizzled in honey. An unreal selection of whiskey, cocktail list, even good wine and beer choices. This is a gem. Service was excellent on top of all of that.

Overall a miserable experience. We were sat in the basement which had an extremely cold draft, kids running around being loud as could be at 8:30 on a friday and the staff just ignores it. Appetizers were forgotten, one of our meals came out disgustingly cold so only my wife ate as the atmosphere was so miserable because of the obnoxious kids running around we just wanted to leave and didn't want to wait for a meal to be remade. I would highly recommend going to one of the other restaurants in the square.

I know so many people adore this place and they have opened more locations. I am just not impressed. Maybe I would go for a drink as they have a wonderful whiskey menu. I've been here a few times, and our table typically gets pretty ignored. Most of the time I am fine with that because I typically do not require anything more that they have given me. I would occasionally like if someone checked on us just so I can get another water. I'm always courteous to Raiders or waitresses, so I know we are not being ignored because it's a table of jerks or anything. They are just super busy. For those never being here before the prices are à la carte, it's typical, thats fine. I had a pulled pork sandwich. There was a lot on the sandwich, but the barbecue sauce just tasted odd. I had a side of mac & cheese that was cold when it came to the table and it wasn't very tasty. I ended up not eating it.My friends still like going here, but I really don't see its appeal. It is not an inexpensive place to eat, and there are places that are comparable in price that I would like to eat out more.

Went out and met some family in crown point for a meal, and on a whim we ended up at True BBQ and Whiskey Bar, just right off the square in town. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m glad we came in! The bar had a nice energy to it, and we were quickly seated and taken care of.In terms of drinks, I was not expecting to get something alcoholic, but our waitress brought out a seasonal drink menu for Halloween, and how can I turn down the opportunity for absinthe? I ordered myself the Night of the Living Dead, which had absinthe, rum, some bitters, lime, and a few other assorted additions. The big eye draw is the actual syringe that has MORE rum and grenadine in it. Administer 50CC’s of the syringe mixture to the “skull” and you’ll be feeling quite good, and it tastes great as well.As someone who eats generally plant based, I was skeptical about finding food options for me at a BBQ joint in Northwest Indiana. However, True BBQ actually does have a handful of vegan options, conveniently listed as such on the menu. I ordered the Vegan Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was made with some delicious jackfruit and topped with a mild barbecue sauce and some vegan slaw. The barbecue sauce paired with the jackfruit gave me the flavor I was looking for, but also a similar texture, which can be important for taste. After crushing my sandwich and cleaning off those messy fingers I rounded my meal out with those fries, which were surprisingly crunchy for a big as they are! Those fries definitely hit the spot, a great way to wrap a quality meal.I don’t often find reasons to come out to Crown Point these days, but maybe I’m going to have to start fabricating excuses, because this was a great visit and I look forward to the next!

I'm not a whiskey drinker so it was the BBQ that got my attention. And I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were awesome, and the side of shrimp wasn't to bad either. They bring you three sauces, hot, mild and raspberry. The hot has a bit of a bite to it, but not overwhelmingly so.Our waitress was prompt to start and our drinks and order were in right away, but they had her assigned to a private party of 25 and she all but disappeared once they started arriving. Otherwise, I believe she would have been great.Overall, I would eat here again if I were passing throuh the area. But... there are quite a few other options around the square to choose from.
