La Mexicana Mexican Restaurant

Honestly some of the best Mexican I've had in a while. I wasn't expecting much when I walked in during lunch and there weren't many people there, but it was delicious. The chips and salsa was great - they had different options and all of them were good. The menu had plenty of options beyond the standard tacos and burritos.

Everything was just horrible aside from the beans and rice.. i really tried to give this restaurant a 2cd try because i thought the food from the first time was just a bad day, but this is probably the most nastiest Mexican food i ever had in my life.. i couldnt even finish 1 of my 3 tacos.. i had el pastor and the meat so rubbery and un seasoned.. i cant see how anyone can eat it! The first visit me and my wife had torta’s and the meat was super unseasoned and once again rubbery (Steak)

For the time i visit yesterday (5/18/25) i was solo.. i sat down at a table (Never got greeted) the waitress came and asked what i wanted, gave me my food and NEVERRR checked on me after that! Some Hispanics came in and she was talking to them non stop lol.. im a very high top tipper! And even if the food was nasty and i had good service, i would had still tipped her 20-30 dollars! But man my soul couldn’t even spare her 1 cent!

There is my honest review! Nothing held back! They have VERY good beans and rice! And the water i had was very good too! Aside from that!! THUMBS DOWN!

Ordered a torta with chicken and they put three unseasoned breaded chicken peices and on the corn in the cup they put basically no spicy powder this was after we had waited 30 minutes for food and waiter was horrible she even touched the rim of the cup

Over the years this restaurant used to be our favorite restaurant in the area, but now its standards have gone down considerably. We ordered food today for lunch and was surprised by the price of the food, we expected to pay about 50-60 bucks for our food, not $91.15. We figured it was going to be good, but all of our food was bland, we were missing slices of avocado in our veggie tacos that we asked for, we didn’t get any beans in them either, they usually give us bean and cheese with them and they didn’t this time. They made our tacos fajita-like and we didn’t ask for fajitas we asked for tacos. We asked for French fries not potato wedges, and bland ones at that. They used to actually have French fries, but I guess they changed vendors and now do subpar potato wedges, even KFC’s thickest potato wedges have more flavor than their thinnest potato wedges. My steak tacos had no seasoning whatsoever on them either. For 91 dollars of food for it to be bland and missing certain ingredients is completely unacceptable. When we wanted to get a refund we had to literally raise our voice to get some of our money out of it. We only took a couple of bites of our meal to realize we weren’t satisfied and the cashier and manager were adamant on not giving our money back, they only gave us 43 dollars out of the 91 that we spent. Our disappointment for this place has never been higher, we will not be returning. Take my advice and save your money for the other Mexican restaurant that’s down the street in the Demotte-Roselawn area, this isn’t it at all.

WOW the salsa was incredible 😩 they were trying something new to see if people liked it and I LOVED IT. I had pupusas de chicharron y queso, and an order of aguachile.
It was all great. The aguachile was plated in a gorgeous tower and handed to me personally by the handsome chef 😍 it was spicy, and properly cooked in lime. I will 100% be back. Good walking distance from the compass truck stop to get some steps in. I had a michelada that was good too. ❤️

Restaurant, very bad service, there was an hour left before they closed and they didn't want to sell me a plate of roast beef, I asked to speak to the manager and they wouldn't let me

Not bad. Food was OK nothing spectacular. Reasonably priced. Good service. Stopped here after a trip to US-41 car sales in Brook, IN. They are scammers and liars there. Thanks for reading

Im so happy we came to eat here it was absolutely delicious! We aren’t from this area so we were having some issues choosing where to go for Authentic Mexican food. That’s exactly what we got! The Chips are made in house they offer a salsa that isnt spicy(which is good for those who don’t like heat) but for my spicy lovers their Red and Green salsa is delicious we added those to our chips. We both got the taco steak dinner with cilantro Onion corn tortillas Best tacos ever I recommend adding both red and Green salsa to your tacos. The tacos were big and filled up! These Tacos taste exactly like the ones in Chicago ! Rice and beans are also delicious ! We definitely will be returning

Zero stars, Very rude service, the servers talk about the customers behind their backs.
The food is mediocre, no flavor at all.
Overpriced for what it is.
Better off going down the street on Route 10 to the little Mexican store, better food, better service.

If you’re not Hispanic, don’t even waste your time walking in the door. Second time I’ve went in sat down to eat 6:30pm and was totally ignored! Hispanic music blaring waitresses standing around laughing with each other and their Hispanic guests while you sit there like a homeless person being ignored! I went back this time (2nd time) because it was a little busy they had 6 tables of Hispanic diners the first time and thought I’d give them another chance to serve me. Well, it happened again only had 2 tables of guests and 2 people at the bar and totally ignored me. I gave up after 15 minutes and left… The place was run down inside and had stuff stacked everywhere??? Could not give any stars about food because after two visits there “I couldn’t get any”!!!

I have ordered here before and the food has always been delicious. This time I got a Chicken Taco dinner and the meat was hard and crunchy and looks like it's been sitting out for a while. It grossed me out because I've never had such horrible tacos. I won't be coming back for their food nomore.
