My family had a wonderful meal this evening. We came to eat big $ with Alaskan king crab legs, steaks, salads, martinis plus a bottle of wine celebrating a milestone birthday! Reservations were made 2 weeks in advance for a river view table and had mentioned this was for a 65th birthday celebration. Everything was perfect...the river table view, ambience, Everything was going very well until a much larger group was seated beside us. Our waiter was wonderful at first, but he dumped us to spend more time with the larger group. This table was served first and waiter brought a special birthday dessert to patron at larger table. Envy!! Yes, I was a little jealous as I had made our reservations in advance, called the night before to confirm and the person told me she knew it was for a 65th birthday. Upon our arrival I suppose I expected more like a..."hello, happy birthday"! No, he must have wanted a much bigger tip even though we always tip 20-25%. The waiter was truly into the other larger table. Even the service we received back in February was far better with a wonderful and personable waitress with dark brown hair. We saw her this evening. Will ask for her next time as she has huge personality and goes above and beyond to make your experience one you will never forget. The waiter tonight lacked personality and was not attentive. On the flip side, our meal was amazing. Best king crab legs ever! XOXO

My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here last night. Not only was the food amazing, and in large portions (so you're definitely getting your money's worth), but this was the best service we have ever had. When we asked for to-go boxes for our leftovers, he actually boxed everything up for us, and got a separate container for each item so none of the food would mix, he did this without being asked. Important to note that when you order sides, they are not included in most of the meals and may seem expensive but each side comes with enough to honestly feed 4 people. We ordered 3 sides, shared all of them, and still had a lot leftover. The bread they bring you at the beginning of the meal is excellent, it comes with sea-salted butter and spreadable garlic cloves. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and it was possibly the best crab cakes we have had anywhere. He ordered the shrimp linguine, I ordered the seared salmon, and for sides we ordered asparagus, lobster mac and cheese, and truffle potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly! We also ordered a lemon drop martini and a pomegranate martini and they were both good but we both liked the lemon drop one more. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate torte. My only note here was that since it was cold and more like a pie than a cake, it should have come with a knife to cut it without mashing it since all of our plates and utensils had already been cleared from the table. We will definitely be back for date night again.

the food was absolutely delicious and our server, sergei (sp?), was spectacular! i was sad to realize i had left my remaining burrata at the restaurant as it would have made a great snack before bed, lol. the blackened filet was absolutely wonderful and the crabcakes were awesome. highly recommend! sorry - for some reason it's not allowing me to add photos.

Steaks were very dry.. not at all what we ever experienced at Cavanaughs.. I've had better at much less expensive dining options.. it really was a let down of a meal.

I celebrated my birthday at Cavanaugh's on the river and I really enjoyed my experience. It would have been perfect if we weren't rushed out due to an evacuation, but luckily, we were about to finish anyway. It is a very beautiful and relaxing ambiance.

The food and service was great. Enjoyed the music. May want to take a dust rag to the window sill and clean the windows as well...it's most of what you see as you enjoy the sunset. We would go back.

Made reservations for my wife's birthday dinner slash date night and from the moment we walked in to live piano music and candle lit white table cloth we were blown away. The service was perfect and steaks were some of the best we've had I had the truffle potatoes and they were excellent as well. The wine recomended by the server was exactly what we were hoping for as well. Pricey but worth it on a special occasion I will definitely be returning

Our dinner was wonderful. The service impeccable as usual, but this time special attention should be noted. I was given a gift at dinner which I left on the window sill next to the table. Someone called the next day told me they had it, and we arranged for me to return and pick it up. Now that is service that keeps on giving.

It was okay, but not great for the money. We did not complain on the food but the steak (filet) was overcooked and the prime rib was average. Guy sitting next to us wore his baseball hat the entire time, which I felt was not proper in this type of establishment. It had been a couple of years since we were there, but definitely would not go back for the amount we paid.

Our server was excellent. The food was good not great. The drinks were good too. We stayed at the hotel and were not impressed at all. The restaurant was a nice reprieve from a disappointing stay.

The Sevice was impeccable. The piano bar a delight. The cocktail pours honest to a little extra. The portions were huge. The king crab legs at $130 for 18 oz. were just a tige dry. But good nonetheless. They come fully cracked and easy to access, but unless that is done immediately before service for each customer I could see the trade off. Definitely will return.

Great location on the banks of the Ohio River. Had excellent seating.

My steak was perfectly seared medium and my wife had the shrimp pasta which she enjoyed.

I had an excellent old fashioned which was mixed perfectly. My wife had margarita which was delicious.

Highly recommended for a celebration. The prices are reasonable for a fine dining restaurant.

We ordered Fillets both well done no pink. My steak wasn't done. After our food was delivered there was no checking back as to was everything okay. We were asked if we wanted a togo box and we said my steak wasn't done so no. $200 later, and a 4 hour drive needless to say we won't be back.
