The coffee was okay. The macarons were amazing! But the kitties were the highlight of the day! The guy monitoring the cat lounge was very helpful and informative.
I do wish, however, that young children were limited or even not allowed to be in the room without someone responsible watching them. It kind of put a damper on our visit to have them chasing the cats off and being aggressive with them. They got scratched and bitten several times because they do not understand how to approach cats and their parent did nothing to correct or control them. She actually encouraged them to bother specific cats that we were clearly spending time with. At least one of the cats was visibly stressed the whole time they were in the room. I was happy to see them leave!
That was obviously a parenting problem, but the staff do need to set some boundaries or constantly be in the room to discourage this type of behavior and/or remove people from the room when needed.
Overall, I would definitely visit again! Maybe I’ll just pay for all 10 spots to make sure we have a calm and pleasant experience. ?

The young man we took to this cafe aptly pointed out what a therapeutic environment it is. I've visited the last two summers. Great addition to downtown Evansville.

It was really cute cafe. I had an iced coffee and vanilla latte. Drinks were good, and I and my husband had a great time with cats. You can also adopt the cats there too. We really enjoyed!

I took off work early and arrived at 6:25 planning to adopt a cat. Was told the cat room closes at 6:30. I don’t see this listed on the website anywhere, and we planned to be gone by 7 but the guy at the counter just offered a half hearted apology after telling us we could go in the cat room for 3 minutes (while charging 30 minute price) until it closed.

River Kitty is an awesome place overall, please offer more vegan options and train your staff to be knowledgeable about vegan products. I ordered a smoothie and asked for it to be made vegan and asked if your store had any vegan food products, your employee didn’t know what I meant by vegan. I asked if the smoothie could be made vegan after educating him nicely, he said he could make it that way. I was almost home before I realized it had been made with a powder containing whey, a dairy product. I was disappointed. For a place touting to be hip, it was surprising to me that your staff wasn’t aware of modern popular dietary choices and that your store doesn’t provide hardly any vegan options.
Visit the cats, support a nonprofit, eat a macaron.
