The service was OK. Ambiance was cool. The food was a disaster. Ordered 2 porterhouses 1 was Ordered rare and the other was medium. Both overcooked. One was totally burnt on the edge about a half inch in. Salad brought out after the entree. You can get a better steak at TEXAS ROADHOUSE. Better flavor. Asked nicely for a discount, not free. They gave me $6 off a $41 steak that was half eaten. Never eat here.

Such high hopes when we came across this place. Reviews were hit or miss - our experience was a total miss. Two of our favorite appetizers were on the menu bruschetta and caprese salad. The bruschetta was fair for cheese bread, not bruschetta. Caprese salad - just couldn't eat it, the tomatoes were that bad. A Caesar salad from a bag would have been better than theirs - hands down. Wife had pan fried grouper which wasn't terrible, fair at best. I had chicken castatina with veseuvio potatoes - how they pulled it off I don't know, but even the Italian sausage was bland. We left more than we ate. Had high hopes - love the vibe of the facility, but this is a one and done for us.

Server was attentive until we ordered food. Then it was like we were forgotten. Didn’t see her but maybe every 25+ minutes. Never asked about the food. I tried to return my Philly steak as it was sweet like Italian beef and nothing like any Philly I’ve ever had. She told me to wait and then took another 10+ before she came back around. Waited over an hour for our food. Waited for over 30 minutes for a check. Again she never even asked how the food was. I Wanted to order desert but couldn’t even do that because she never came around. I ordered a side salad and never got it. But she made sure to point out to me that I wouldn’t be paying for it. She never apologized or even offered to bring it after it was mentioned. This was our first time here and honestly if the service is any inclination on how things are done here I won’t be back.Spent $138 to leave hungry and unsatisfied in the worst way.

Born and raised in Evansville and planning a party (for 50-60 people) while living in California can be difficult. However, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Smitty's Italian Steakhouse on Franklin St. on the Westside of Evansville if you are considering a large group gathering. They were AMAZING in coordinating my Mom's Surprise 60th Birthday Party. Katie and their Chef were extremely communicative throughout the entire process and ensured that we felt ready to show up on the day of for a successful event. Everyone raved about the food bar, and having the private room and private bar was very convenient. If you are considering hosting a gathering (future office Xmas parties or bday parties), give them a shout and ask for Katie! She'll hook you up!

The place itself is iconic, old school, NY Italian atmosphere. The service was good and food was as well. Their “bruschetta” is more like cheesy bread but it’s unique with olives in the bread, topped with cheese, tomatoes, and fresh basil. The ribeye was incredibly tender but lacked seasoning, for my taste. The creamed spinach was awesome.I can’t wait to try this restaurant again. I’m glad that they are taking liberties with iconic Italian staples. The atmosphere itself makes this place a must visit

I would consider this an expensive Fazoli's. I am not impressed with the sad excuse for Italian, the service, or hidden upcharges.

We had to wait a bit for a server to come & greet us when we were seated. I asked for a shaken White Russian & it came out stirred. Other than that, food was excellent. My husband got the Italian sausage with peppers and onions. He said the sausage was kind of bland. I ordered the ribeye & it was awesome!!We will return to Smitty's, maybe to celebrate another anniversary.
Good place to meet friends and have a good meal.
