We are visiting family in Evansville and decided to have breakfast at The Diner by Mel’s. We love to patronize restaurants that are not part of big national chains, and this restaurant is cute and friendly. I asked for the vegetarian omelette to be made with egg whites which they did, and it was very good. We both liked our meals, and we were impressed by the very friendly and welcoming staff. We will definitely be back during our visit, and if we lived in Evansville , it would be one of our regular places.

Food and service was great. Nothing better than pork chilaquiles for breakfast after a long night.

I always look at this restaurant, and I thought their business was slow. There is parking in the back also, and it was full. We decided to try them out(a friend and my daughter). We enjoyed it from the entrance to the exit. Food is great, great customer service, beautiful & clean restrooms, and a relaxing environment. We will be back again.

Was really looking forward to trying the food here. Checked on the website to make sure of closing time - 8 p.m. Placed a to go order at 7:15 and it was confirmed through email. Only to get to the restaurant and be told they were closed, at 7:25 and had rejected our order, which I never got notified of. Highly disappointed.

This is a quaint little place in Evansville with all the diner breakfast meals and specials you could ever want. Our group of 4 was seated quickly and the food came out fast. Everything was delicious. The crispy bacon lived up to its title. The pancake sandwich was massive. The biscuits and gravy were excellent.

They serve a little bit of everything. They are moderately high, which everything is these days. They have no booths, just fancy chairs. I got a funnel cake breakfast, which is basically deep-fried French toast. It had very little flavor. The syrup didn't help much. The gravy I ordered was good, just overpriced. I probably won't eat there again, but if I do, it won't be breakfast.

The food is always amazing and the service is always friendly and quick. This is my favorite diner in town and favorite place for breakfast. I would request the veggie omelette with home fries for my last meal on death row.
