I’ve been coming to Cafe Korea for 3 years. Every time me and a group went it was a great experience. For some reason this last time we went, it was a totally different experience. Everything was different from the service to the food as well. For one, when we went as a group, we would all get our own portion of rice. This time, not everyone would get rice, only 3 people would. Why they changed this is beyond me, but it was really odd that all of the sudden we all didn’t get rice. Also, the service didn’t feel right. It felt as though the server was annoyed with us for asking for more sides, or asking for more drinks. Overall the experience was not good at all. It’s really weird because in the last none of this had happened. It really upset me and the group that went that night which will make it less likely to return anytime in the future. It’s really disappointing because it was one of our favorite Korean BBQ spots in town.

This is 5 stars because there are so few Korean restaurants in Indiepol! I ate well.

Visiting from out of town, I had high hopes of an authentic Korean BBQ. This place had excellent reviews so we tried it. It started off with very diluted, weak iced barley tea. I had to ask for a hot tea as it tasted like water. We had the unmarinated ribs (I get these to check out the quality of the meats), bulgogi, and the pork belly. The side dishes came out but no kimchi. I had to ask for it. Can you imagine asking for kimchi at a Korean restaurant? The meat was OK. Would have been better if scored. Bulgogi not bad. But again, we had to ask for lettuce and ssamjang sauce. The lettuce wrap is a key part of the experience. I really don't like having to ask for it. The ssamjang sauce was very weak and watery. We were asked if we wanted miso or daenjang jigae. We asked for the jigae. It tasted like miso with few vegetables thrown in. I suspect the restaurant is catering to "American" tastes, so for Koreans like me, it was disappointing. If you are not familiar with Korean food, this place will please you, but if you are more familiar, this place will not thrill you.

My dad and I came here for the first time. After hearing a lot of good things about this place we decided to give it a try. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We had #20 chicken dupop and #23 seolleong tang and they both were delicious. Great service and very welcoming. I highly recommend!

Cafe Korea offers an awesome dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service is top-notch, with attentive and friendly wait staff. The bulgogi is absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with a flavorful marinade. The banchan is generous and varied, with each dish complementing the meal perfectly—especially the tasty fried bananas. To top it off, they offer free grapes for dessert, adding a refreshing finish to a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Came here with a group of friends and unfortunately the experience left more to be desired. Upon first entering and reading through the extensive menu, you realize that this place is super expensive—much more expensive than Korean food in places like Chicago or Los Angeles. It was about $24 for bibimbop and $5 for tea. Both of those options were unusually expensive. We ordered the seafood pancake as an appetizer but it was dry and without flavor. The banchan was delicious but we had to ask for kimchi. The gochujang sauce that came with the food was very sweet and didn’t have any spice to it. Overall it was a super disappointing experience. I would recommend Mamas Korean in Lawrence for good Korean food.

11/10 experience. First time, and it was absolutely divine. The staff were excellent, and so friendly and genuine. We got spicy and regular bulgogi. The spicy wasn't really spicy to me, but had a good flavor nonetheless. All of the food was to die for. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Great Korean restaurant. I really enjoyed that they had prepared food and not just the grill. We had a little bit of everything, it was all great! Highly recommended you give this place a shot!

We were seated and waiting patiently, but other people came in after us and were waited on. We ended up leaving before we were ever approached by the waiting staff. We believe it was because we were wearing Harley Davidson apparel and were judged. I can guarantee that I make as much money if not more than most people there. Sad situation. We won't be back
The food is just average. The price was the most expensive among the Korean restaurants I've been to so far.It seems to be about 1.5 times the price of a typical Korean restaurant, but it's not worth that much. The side dishes aren't great, the food isn't great, and the service isn't great - it's just average. If the price is average, I would give it 4 stars.Actually, I went because I wanted to eat fish cutlet, but they gave me pork cutlet sauce for the fish meat that was falling apart. I was a bit disappointed. I thought the fish cutlet was $22, but the quality was just about $10.It doesn't seem like it's run by a Korean. It feels like it's run by a foreigner who has some experience in Korean cuisine. If it were a Korean owner, there is no way he would have given me fish cutlets like that. The atmosphere of the store is clean and nice.Is rice unlimited refills? I think so, but the price of the food includes about 5 bowls of rice, so if you eat a lot of rice, it is a great deal!!
