Stopped here while road tripping with my kid and dogs. My kid had the chicken Caesar wrap, it was extremely tasty. The chicken was cooked perfect, the lettuce un-wilted and the dressing was not overly done. I ordered the hand tossed pizza, it exceeded my expectations for a bar style pizza. This pizza dough was one of the best that I have ever had. Our server Janine was amazing, she was prompt, attentive and made sure that we were all taken care of well. Although I live in a different state, I will return when I make it back to Indiana
Once again, great service. The pork tenderloin was most definitely the largest I have ever seen! On that note, it was missing something on the seasoning side! The onion rings were great, quite large as well.
This was my first time visiting and I'll gladly go back. Before going, I checked out the website and unlike some places, their online menus were up to date. Even their tap list of 20 beers was accurate. The establishment is nice, the people were friendly and my waitress magically materialized any time an empty drink glass touched the table. The only thing left to do is warn anyone reading this. If the menu says something is big, they're not lying. I ordered the Big Ass Burger and it said it was pound. They weren't lying and it was also cooked properly. I got my fill of food and drink without breaking the bank. Highly recommend
Food was great as always and atmosphere was pleasant. Black Dog Pub is always a good choice!
ICONIC FORT WAYNE PUB
Staff: Very friendly and prompt. Most of the staff has been there +8-10 years. Hands down, some of the best bartenders in the city - very attentive, professional, and they can manage a large crowd effectively. If super busy, a server will come in and back up. They have a great system.
Atmosphere: It is everything you’d expect from a small pub and doesn’t disappoint. Reminds me of pubs I’ve been to in Boston. One could describe it as a “country club for locals”. Great place to watch sports. When packed, you will rub elbows. Everyone is generally polite and considerate. It is “The Dog”, but barking and biting is prohibited (so is dancing).
Patrons: Hundreds frequent weekly. Blue to White Collar. Friendly. Loud at times - especially during a big game. A lot of banter across the rail. How to become a patron: just keep showing up and talk to people.
Beer/Liquor: 19 on-tap - IPA’s to Light Beer | Liquor yes
Food: Better than just “bar food”. They take pride in their dishes and they’re reasonably priced.
Pay Options: Tap, Card, Cash + ATM.
Bathrooms: Small, clean.
Seating (Bar): The Rail = +/- 18 stools; 1 high top table = 8 seats; 1 high top table = 6 seats; 3 booths = 4 seats (each). Standing = +/-20 around rail and in back. [Just wedge your way up to bar and grab a drink. Seats will open up].
Business Meetings: Absolutely a great place for that. I suggest non-peak hours.
Smoking/Vaping: No inside | No patio | Yes outside (designated area).
Pets: No inside | Yes patio
Games: 2 Pull Tabs Machines (Nevada Gold).
Music: Yes - Rock | Alt-Rock | Country (No Jukebox). DJ’s: The Bartender on shift (No requests).
Other bars patrons frequent: AJ’s, Chevy’s, Summit, Don Hall’s - Coventry, Mitchell’s, Country Clubs, Wings etc. (Illinois Rd)
Parking: If no parking in front, there’s plenty in the back.
Kid-friendliness: They have a kid’s menu if that’s says anything.

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great servers, but bartenders could use some training imo. If a beer has been complained about by multiple people maybe make a recommendation to the owner(s) to remove said beer from the menu. The beer I’m referring to is 2Toms Black Dog IPA. Literally the worst IPA I’ve ever had in my life, and is only comparable to rotten hot trash. Tastes nothing like a beer in general, and I’ve been to tons of breweries and tried tons of different beers. In all honesty 2Toms should be ashamed to put their name on this beer also. Beer was utterly undrinkable, and was not offered a replacement or anything. Was told by waittress though that many people have complained about it. I will be back mainly because of the good server and the good food, but Avoid that beer at all costs.

Well this is the home.of the Big Ass sandwich menu I got a BA tenderloin and didn't disappoint. They special order buns to cover this thing . Tenderloin was everything to wxpect from a Indiana tenderloin. Also make.their own chips as well . The star of our meal was the Bourbon Apple Pie me and wife split and it was incredible, from the crust to the filling and the bourbon sauce .

I was told in no uncertain terms (by a Hoosier) that I had to try a pork tenderloin while visiting Fort Wayne. 'Black Dog Pub' came up quite frequently in my research for a good one, so I figured I'd get an adaquate representation of the dish there... and I'm happy to report that my choice was justified!
Black Dog had a great vibe- its divided into two sections, the pub itself and a family room adjacent to it for little ones. It was a Friday night, so the bar was packed, but I was able to slip onto one of the many side booths. It had a good mix of crowd there, from chatty 20-somethings to a few old timers, all talking and watching the game. The service was attentive and quick, and the hostess was cfriendly, welcoming, and kept refills coming.
I tried both the Hot Hoochie Mama Chili (what a name) and a Big A** Sandwich, and they were both delicious.
I love chili, so I was excited to try their recipe. It was fantastic! It had a perfect blend of balanced flavor (heady, sweet, spicy) and very warming but not overwhelming amount of heat, which sits pleasantly at the back of the throat. The menu said it took years to perfect, and you taste that loving effort in each spoonful. What else can I say, it's d**n good chili. It was my favorite part of dinner, and I highly recommend it. Comes with optional cheese and onions.
The pork tenderloin sandwich was juicy and delicious. This 'Big A**' variety is true to its name (about 7-8 inches in diameter), and comes with a well-toasted bun and a side of homemade potato chips. You could probably pick it up with both hands, but I'm not sure anyone would look down at you for using a fork and knife.
I'd recommend Black Dog Pub to anyone visiting Fort Wayne, and frankly, I can't wait to get back there so I can have another bowl of chili.

Big ass tenderloin was amazing!
I've dined in many times and everything was great. Ordered carry-out for the first time tonight, got home and opened the box - they gave me the wrong pizza.
