Keep coming in 8-8:30. While kitchen closes at 9 it is often closed by 8:30. Good food when they are open, but ask before you order a beer. Kitchen seems to close an hour early most nights.
Disappointing Experience – Cold Spinach & Artichoke Dip?
I recently visited Hop River and was excited to try their food menu along with their beer selection. However, my experience was soured by a disappointing dish—the spinach and artichoke dip.
Nowhere on the menu did it indicate that the dip would be served cold. When it arrived at the table, I was expecting the warm, creamy, melty goodness that is standard for this dish. Instead, I got a cold, stiff mixture that tasted more like something straight from a fridge than a freshly prepared appetizer.
If this is an intentional choice, it should absolutely be noted on the menu. Most people ordering spinach and artichoke dip expect it to be hot, so serving it cold without warning feels misleading. Worse, when I brought it up to the server, the response was indifferent—no offer to warm it up or even an acknowledgment that this might be off-putting to customers.
While the beer selection was decent, the food experience left a bad taste in my mouth—literally. If you’re thinking of ordering the dip, be warned: you might be in for an unpleasant surprise.
Update to owner/responder:
Thank you for the quick response and acknowledgment. Although it is unnecessary to pick up my tab, the gesture is kind. The beer I had (Haze and Fourth I believe it was) was so good I bought a 4 pack to go. I know my dining partners were all happy with the food they ordered. I was mostly put off by the complacent response I received from the bar tender when I brought it up. We visit Fort a Wayne at least twice a year for wheelchair basketball tournaments, so I’m sure we will be back. Thank you.
Our family always looks forward to departing FWA on our countless trips to grab the burger at the “Former” restaurant, the new restaurant has a Just Okay burger they call a Smashburger, very average with almost tasteless meat and definitely not made fresh, our departure tradition ended today.
Guess if you are not a local don't even think of joining a conversation that Paul is having. He is not friendly at all and even cussed at me. Kinda unprofessional especially when he works here! I finished my flight and went and spent my money where I was welcomed (Dot-Line). Employing a person like this drives your customers away. In these times when it is getting more expensive to go out you think your employees would treat the customers better. If Paul drives enough people away, you won't have a customer base and he will be looking for a new job.
Relaxing atmosphere, good variety of beers and good food options.
A variety of different beers on tap for every person’s taste. Had the bacon cheddar tots. They were delicious and crispy. Could have used more cheese though, cheese seemed pretty sparse. Overall a nice place for a drink and a quick meal.
Terrible service, servers are only there to serve their friends, and have a terrible attitudes
Neat atmosphere but the salad was expensive for what you got. He liked his pizza and beer.
Food takes a while, but it’s well worth it!! Staff were friendly and food was amazing. Highly recommend the tater tots appetizer.
Trivia Night is a must, great Beer, great people

Service was awesome....Wings exceptional!! IPA's spot on!! Highly recommended!!!
Hop River has great beer and food, and I love the atmosphere. It's great for the family, or hanging out with friends. I especially enjoy going there when the Ragtag Bunch performs. It's a great venue for it.
It is a good place for a small party to get together to relax, drink and be merry
Visited for the first time on a Saturday and I’d say the brewery was about half full. Waited about 15 minutes at the bar to be waited on to get a beer and order a pretzel. There were only two bartenders taking beer and food orders, and running food out. I really enjoy their IPA, but I don’t think I’d come back. The pretzel was more of a biscuit, not a pretzel. Cheese tasted powdery.
Family-friendly spot slinging some of the consistently best brews in Fort Wayne. Lots of parking, nice outdoor seating, and fun board game selection. We love going for trivia on Tuesdays and Singo on Thursdays. Bartenders are friendly & knowledgeable. And the food selection is solid. ?
